Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Anyone else from Boston amused by the fact that Showtime is apparently making a show about the Bulgers, but setting it in Providence?

Note to others: Billy Bulger is the longtime (now former) president of the state senate, and his brother Whitey was a notorious gangster, currently on the lam (last I heard).

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

He's still on the lam?! I remember the L&O:CI about him (bringing it all together).

Also, the Winter Hill of the Winter Hill Gang is Somerville, not Boston, and someone's mother or something used to live across the street from my aunts, and there was a huge bust of a weapons cache there once.

"Somewhere in this building is our talent." Toby Ziegler, my spirit animal

Oh, I thought I recognized that story, Jesse. (/criminal activity likes carrots.)

I actually blame my love of politicians on a lengthy chat with Billy Bulger at an impressionable age. He is one charming motherfucker, I tell you what.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Huh. I think I just got shanghaied into an internal promotional video. I am particularly weak willed during a migraine, if you can get me to respond.

I'm not surprised. Seems essential for the modern crime boss.ETA: charm, not work videos!

Although, I do see the humor value in a promotional video by a modern crime boss.

For the record: I assume the criminal brother is charming as well, but I have never met him.

I think I just got shanghaied into an internal promotional video.

Ha ha. Hey -- we should stop saying "shanghaied," huh? It's worse than "gypped."

I'm behind, but... I'm mildly astonished to learn that it's unusual to throw a birthday party for oneself. Well, and yet have birthday parties. How does that work? Is this one of those things I missed learning in high school? I'm trying to think if I've ever been to a birthday party where the host wasn't the person having the birthday.

A friend did try to throw a surprise party for me once, but I unintentionally screwed his plan up enough that he had to tell me what was going on. And then I almost took his head off. Good times.
