Argh! I have errands to run, like picking up dog food and going to the library and picking up my sister's dog.
But the last time I drove my car was on Monday and I left the door open and the battery is dead. And I forgot to renew my AAA membership last month.
So I just went online and renewed my membership. How long should I wait to call AAA to come give me a jump?
Have you gotten a confirmation e-mail? If you have, I think you're good to call.
I do indeed have a confirmation email! Yay!
The ESPN curling announcers put the soccer commentators to shame.
I won't go near the ESPN commentary -- I'd much rather miss half of what they're saying on Univision than listen to the ESPN guys not bother to hide the fact that they don't know or care about soccer.
I just figured out yesterday that the ESPN commentator I hate the most used to play soccer in the US, so I guess it's just a different perspective and not complete ignorance.
My Spanish is sub-Sesame Street level, but even so one of my fondest memories is watching the '94 World Cup on Inivision down at the Laundromat in Chico. I could follow the game, so it didn't matter that I couldn't understand what anyone was saying. So fun.
Sadly, I lack Univision. Damn my illegal cable!
I think that they've got former soccer players commentating. (Plus the England-Portugal match was on ABC.)
What I don't understand is why Brad Gilbert insists with going with Baseball analogies for his tennis commentary.

True, but I think they keep having the same sets of commentators regardless of channel. I want to say it's based on the city the match is played it, but I haven't really been paying attention.
Some are better than others, but I don't think the problem is that they don't know the game, it's that they don't know how to talk about it. They don't convey either the joy of watching great soccer (for fans of the game) or the information necessary for the non-fan to appreciate it.
I have no ESPN. But they said John Harkes was commentating. He may or may not be any good, but he sure used to be hot (when he was playing.)
I was rooting for Portugal. Especially the baby-angel-faced Roberto.
