I had a whole section about civic pride.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Trudy, you sure you can't get out of town this weekend? Like, really sure, because they're 98% positive, and I'd hate anything to happen to you.

Nope, looks like I'm doomed.

If three million degrees can be called 'cool.'

Heh. Well, a cool way to die. Not "eaten by a bear" cool, but the fun factor of dying in a nuclear holocaust is upped when you posted just beforehand, "Hey! I can see the mushroom cloud from here!"

You'd all (well, some) be very sad and stuf -- as well you ought -- but, frankly, posting next to an atom bomb would even top Fiona's "well I've gone into labour and am leaving for Hospital now" lo these many years ago when she had Benno.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm thinking EMP issues may make posting from near ground zero a bit problematic though.

If my father had an online presence, he would so do that. If he can have a surgery or procedure with local rather than general, he does. So he can watch. His surgeons have all been accomodating.

It's true. You may have to settle for "what the hell was THA.... "

My boss is amused that they're advising we get out of the city. Because, you know, going to Jersey will surely be far enough. Once we cross the Hudson we should be fine.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Since when can the Bible tell the future?

ION, I hate mysterious bug bites. Where the hell did I get these?!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Biblical prophecy can tell you!

information libertarian

Now that we have a laptop, I checked out if they have wifi in Labor and Delivery at my hospital. Alas, they say no, because apparently it interferes with some sophisticated medical equipment. What-EVER.

I opened up my desk copy of the Bible (who doesn't have one) and pointed at a passage at random. WTF is this supposed to mean?!!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Alas, they say no, because apparently it interferes with some sophisticated medical equipment. What-EVER.

I asked about our cell phones when we delivered Olivia--apparently the old, analog cell phones were what interferred with the hospital equipment. The digital phones, NSM. Isn't wi-fi the same tech as digital mobile phones?
