And on another note entirely, I *love* my office today. We had a TON of food at the World Cup potluck, and about fifteen minutes into the game, we all decided we'd rather be watching it on Univision than ESPN (even though most of us don't speak Spanish), because their commentators actually care about the game. Plus, ESPN's commentators don't shout Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaal!
Natter 45: Smooth as Billy Dee Williams.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Wasn't New Freedom an old brand of maxipads? Or pantiliners or something? Made by Stayfree?
I also wonder why they call a bank "Fleet" when to me, that it a brand of enema.
Also, Dana's hair looks great, and I love the weird angle piture by Mr. Dana!
Dana, the new haircut looks great. What a great length.
I too have a new haircut, although this is not unlike other haircuts I have had. Longer than I was thinking--my hair comes to my collar bones--and lots of long layers. (I'll see if I can find a similar cut.)
AND while DH was getting his cut, I wandered into the cute clothing store next door (the salon is in a dodgy neighborhood in Venice) and got a ridiculous deal on two pairs of pants and a burn out tee shirt. The pants I'm wearing today? Low cut, brown cotton with a nice texture, fit perfectly, $10. Me happy.
Tommy - I feel the same way about the name. Makes me wonder if people were all eyerolly about the "Statue of Liberty" at the time.
It would totally crack me up if this were true. And, somehow, renew my faith in Americans.
Ah, good ol' enema bank.
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaal!
This was our friends' son's first word, pretty much with that inflection. Mom is Guatemalan and Dad is American, both bilingual, so he was spoken to in both Spanish and English from birth. IOW, they have no idea if his first word was Spanish or English.

OK, so here I wasn't going to share that Freedom Tower immediately made me think of pads, because I had no idea why and didn't want to expose my demented brain wiring. But now I know there's a rational explanation for the connection! Thanks, Sophia!

That's wonderful.

Is John Harkes on ESPN? If so, there's one reason to watch.
No movie shall triumph over Snakes on a Plane. Unless I happen to feel like making a movie called, “More Motherfuckin Snakes on More Motherfuckin Planes.”
Seriously? That was his actual speech? Because if so, he is now officially the Coolest Human Being In All Of Recorded History.
Tim and his assistant start shooting Drive in the desert on Monday. I am making (cheap) gift bags. On my shopping list so far are:
Sunscreen
Chapstick
A bottle of water
A matchbox car
What else? Suggestions?
