New species of mini-sauropods discovered!
The creature was of the sauropod type - that group of long-necked, four-footed herbivores that were the largest of all the dinosaurs.
But at just a few metres in length, this animal was considerably smaller than its huge cousins, scientists report in the journal Nature.
The team thinks the Jurassic species evolved its small form in response to limited food resources on an island.
Martin Sander, from the University of Bonn, and colleagues studied the remains of over 11 sauropods found in a quarry at Oker, near Goslar, Lower Saxony.
With total body lengths ranging from 1.7 to 6.2m (5.5-20ft), the team originally thought the dinosaurs were juveniles. But when the scientists examined the fossils closely, they realised they were dealing with dwarf creatures.
Kathy, the wildlife lady at the San Diego Zoo called babies like that 'tuckers', as in, their moms tuck them away while they're out browsing.
That baby deer made me smile--so damn cute! ("Tuckers," I'll have to remember that one.)
I have to get my hair chopped, too (it hasn't been cut since Christmas, and is down to my shoulders). My 13-y.o. niece finally had her gorgeous red hair cut for the first time other than trimming the frizzies (it was past mid-thigh!); it's now shoulder-length. She had it donated (almost two feet worth) as well, Dana.
My cat jumping away in utter terror from the Evil Pool Raft, as it is being blown up.
Okay, so I got up the nerve to call for an appointment, and the line is busy. It's a sign, isn't it? I should just stay in my cave with my long hair.
It's past my waist now. Once ten inches are cut off, it'll still be in the middle of my back, I think. It's kind of hard to measure your own hair.
Right now, I'd say I don't want to go above the shoulders.
Dana, since your hair is fine, you might want to have the stylist put in layers -- but long layers. Like, the "under" layer would be shoulder-length, and the top layer would be between your chin and your shoulder.
Yeah, I was thinking going more shoulder-length or a bit longer, but I am also in need of a style.
Shrift, you can pull off all-one-length really well. (I realize that doesn't help, but there it is.) Maybe shoulder-length, blunt-cut the ends? Maybe slightly angled from back to front?
Called the hair place. Have an appointment TOMORROW. Suddenly concerned. Or really, suddenly freaking.
The thing with layers -- will I have to go back every six weeks to have it re-styled? I'm really bad at stuff like that.
Baby deer is still under the tree! Now I'm worried about Mama Deer not coming back for her (it's been there over four hours now).
