I think their sales staff is very unprofessional. It seems to be a couple of younger women filling in for the regular sales manager who happens to be on maternity leave right now. There's times I don't get callbacks, they get the info I give them confused, they give away our room! If they had any doubts (and I don't think they should have) the least they could have done was called to verify with me first.
Anyway, I received the info from Great Dane. It is the cost I thought it was, except there's some stuff at the bottom I'm not quite sure what it means as I don't speak catering very well.
eta: Ack! Formatting! Let me see if I can render it readable in our little posting boxes.
Would it be worth getting Vortex or someone to put in a call to the hotel?
I have no problem giving them a call. I just need dates and names.
I don't know, brenda. It's a she said, she said kind of deal at this point since we hadn't gotten past "we want this room this day" with anything signed or sealed. In this day and age, it seems to me that verbal agreements really don't mean much.
From the Great Dane dining policy doc:
For parties in the Garden or Private Dining Room there is a per hour guarantee that is stated below. Either area may be private for an extra charge and a guaranteed dollar amount per hour with a signed contract. Parties of twenty or more may require a signed contract and deposit prior to the event.
eta: Crap again. I must be brain dead tonight.
Costs as follows:
½ Private Dining Room (less than 40ppl): $275/hour* Full Private Dining Room(41 – 80 ): $550/hour*
Figured it out. There was a less than sign messing with me!

I don't care. Has the other party paid a deposit? How long have we been talking to them? Does the other party have a room block? Does the hotel not do the courtesy of asking us to confirm?
Good point. Let me get my dayplanner out.
And since we've got a confirmed block, with code numbers and all, and with all the discussion you had, I think there's a fair chance.
Want me to call and cancel my reservation just to be a shit? (And remake it of course, I'm not taking some kind of crazy stand here.)
I say let Vortex loose on 'em.
