Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Any Buffistas in Portland, OR? I'll be in town Jan 2-5 looking for an apartment, with open evenings. Would love to meet new people!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I think Cass is in Portland, and Una is in Eugene.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Apologies for missing things yesterday.

Short version -- Teddy came home from the hospital yesterday morning(diagnosis -- excessive levels of immune suppressant), and kitty care plus exhaustion kept us inside all day.

We missed you! We had a great time. We ended up with Sox, Iris, and her DH, Raq and Mal, Java, Brenda, Sparky, and meara. Had a lovely brunch, although they decided to starve Sparky. They kept not bringing her food. I mentioned it to the server once, and she said, oh, it's coming. Sparky finally had to regulate. It was nice to have someone else do that, I'm always the one who's asking for the manager :) (not that I don't enjoy it, of course)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I have been present on Two Occasions when you have asked for the manager. You were magnificent both times.* 'Course you're pretty magnificent alla time, anyway.

*I say this as a pretty confirmed conflict-avoidy sort.

Oh lord. I'm so, so sorry. I got so caught up in my year-end stuff that I completely spaced on TWO obligations I had yesterday. I feel terrible for not letting you know and for missing the fun. mea culpa.

The crush for year-end closure has kept me off the board and hopping about. Not to mention fighting off the crud that everyone around me seems to have.

I decree that 2008 will be a much better year socially. dammit.

mah sistah!

I'm in good company, then. They did, eventually, try to make things right by taking something off the bill and presenting some desserts for the table. But I am one of those people who absolutely refuses, even after they've apologized and tried to make it up to me to say, "it's okay," because bad service isn't.

I don't know why, but I'm the one in the family who has been served food with glass in it (twice) and who was seated in a chair that collapsed under me. The last glass incident made my father laugh and laugh because when he pointed out that they'd just served the only lawyer at the table glass shards, suddenly all our meals were free (and there were 18 of us there for a birthday).
