Flea, there are some big chains in Crystal City (one bridge over from Rosslyn) that have good deals. There is a Courtyard Marriott, etc.
Plus, the hotels are all within walking of the Metro, which might mean not needing a car the whole time.
This one, I pass all the time and it seems to have gotten pretty good ratings:
Americana Motel
I'm very interested in doing the folk life festival this year. Mekong and Northern Ireland. What a combo!
Dcistas, email sent re: Suzi dinner.
eta: which failed, so here's the email --
It sounds like Friday is best. Apologies to those who cannot make it. Any suggestions for location? I've been wanting to try Bistro du Coin, but am perfectly willing to be overruled if there's another suggestion. Suzi, do you have a food preference?
Is this thing on? No takers for Friday? Should we talk about Wednesday or Thursday?
I can do dinner w/ Suzi on Friday!
I was thinking Friday as well. I know that Fred can't do it, but is in Centreville, so he will probably get the Suzi goodness at another time. Mears and Gary/Sheryl were good for Friday. Todd is super popular, so might have to juggle to make Friday, and I think that Raq was good with Friday too. Maria also said that Friday was an option, as I recall. Am I missing anyone? I know that the communication has been spotty with the email lists.
I am trying to strong arm Sox and family to come down, also.
I can - and will - make it on Friday (me? super popular? BWAH!).
I've been to Bistrot du Coin and the food is good, but it tends to be crowded on weekends.
I'm trying to think of places near Metro stops - if you want Dupont Circle, maybe La Tomate? City Lights? there's a new place at Connecticut and Q called Circa - no idea what it's like. Maybe back to Rosa Mexicana (ummm ... guacamole)? the Clyde's near the Verizon Center?
I'm in for Friday as well.
As long as where ever we go is Metro accessible and not too, too spendy, I'm there!
eta: Ohh, ooooh, City Lights!. Yum.
Also, pimping the 'hood Las Placitas is a great, divy, Salvadoran place with killa margaritas. Short on wine, but long on local flavor.
Ohh! Raku. Haven't been there in an age but have loved it every time I have.
There's Raku, which is Asian small plates in Dupont Circle. There's Greek at Zorba's. There's also this little Asian place that does super cheap pork buns and noodles at Gallery Place.
