Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

That glance wasn't so much smokin' as drinkin', I fear.

Thrift store shopping is the BEST. You must come with us on the next excursion!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

F2F recap:

So, arrived Thursday, and after some cell phoning and wandering around, met up with Aillean, Theodosia and Tommyrot. We piled into the PT Cruiser and cruised to the hotel. The hotel was a wonderful historic building. It was filled with wonderful touches like 20s Art Deco posters and pretty mouldings. We all checked in and had a quick snack at the cafe next to the hotel. The whole neighborhood was really cool, lots of restaurants and stores to wander around. After a brief delay, wherein my uncle called and was an asshole, Aillean and I went to the whiskey tasting.

We enjoyed some lovely Woodfork Reserve, and this wacky whiskey with wheat (hey, alliteration!). There was also an asstastic whiskey, but since we were two at a table for four, there was extra Woodfork. The presenter was terrible. He had a Powerpoint presentation with a plain white slide with black letters. The first slide said "My name is Dan Brown". But, there were plenty of snacks and booze, so we were happy. It was also a chance for me to have some quality time with Aillean to oggle the cute waiter.

We went back to the hotel to freshen up. I wanted to show off the new hair at its best, so I wanted to primp. Aillean and I grabbed a cab over to Ginger's. I have a talent for finding the crazy cab driver. This one was waxing poetic about crackers and crazy rednecks.

Got to Ginger's, had fun with the crowd there. We watched Supernatural, and there was much squee and flail. I like the show, I should Netflix it. We hung out for a while, then headed back to the hotel.

Friday morning, we all got up and headed over to the hospitality suite. As usual, Friday is a day of catching up and the traditional Buffista greeting. Askye was blond! Ginger had grown her hair longer! We got our act together, and went to Atkins Park Tavern for lunch. Beverly admired the pitcher that the cream for Ginger's coffee had come in. There was some dithering about whether she could buy one, etc. There MAY have been some larceny, and someone MAY have put the creamer in her purse, but as Frank said "you can't dust for cream" and phrases such as "is that cream in your purse or are you glad to see me?" were uttered.

We went back to the hospitality suite, and were sitting around just chatting, when suddenly it occurred to us that we wanted to go thrifting. We gathered up and went to this place called psycho sisters. Several wonderful outfits and accessories were found, Zenkitty, SailAweigh, and Theodosia all found cute outfits for the F2F. I tried on this amazing vintage dress with beads and sequins. Well, I tried to try it on, but I couldn't get it over my shoulders. Stupid narrow shouldered women in the 30s.

We went out to dinner. We had a very large group and knew we weren't going to get in the same place, so we wandered down the street and peeled off as we found places to eat. Me, Brendan, Laura, Zenkitty, and Askye ended up eating Italian. It was good.

We went back to the hotel prepared for Rocky Horror. I didn't dress up, so by "prepared", I meant I had a beer. As for outfits, I say Go Big or Go Home. If I don't have a great costume, I don't dress up. Askye had a great outfit with fishnets, a hat, and spike heels. She was a Rocky virgin but would not admit to it. the virgins were asked to fake an orgasm and they were all terrible. She would have rocked, I know. Smonster, Brenda and I took a quick detour for a shot, just 'cause.

We settled into our seats, and proceeded to have lots of fun. There were two "staff members" wandering the aisles, shouting out random crap at each other and the other regulars. It diminished the movie a little bit. It was still fun, but could have been better if they had worked with the audience.

Next day, smonster and I ended up at American Roadhouse for brunch, where we had tried to go for dinner the night before, but it's only open for breakfast, lunch and brunch. So, we had brunch, and it was gooood. I was happy to discover that I did not have (continued...)

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

( continues...) to choose between cheese grits and pancakes, I got both! (shut up, I'm not having sex, so I need to sublimate my happiness into food).

I decided to go along with the salon group to be social, but discovered that the setup was not conducive to just hanging out, so I got some coffee and wandered back. The Highlands is a great neighborhood, great little stores and shops.

We went to dinner at the tapas place -- Sparky, Matt the Bruins Fan, tommyrot, Frankenbudda, Kate P., Really good tapas. Not a huge amount of variety, but everything was original and really good. I think that my favorite was the mahi mahi skewered with thin slices of chorizo. I'm definitely going to try to make them at home.

And on to Prom. I went back to the room to change. Smonster did my make up and I had a nice gold glow. I gathered my boobs into the corset and strolled out. I met up with the gorgeousness that is the buffista prom and merriment ensued.

There was dancing, and grooving, and moving to the music. smonster had her AMAZING bellydance routines and super hot costumes. I took some pictures, but my craptastic camera doesn't like to take pictures when the subject is moving. V. annoying. Brenda had some really good CDs, stuff like House Rules (which may have to be my new apartment's theme song) and U + Ur Hand. Plus, Carry On My Wayward Son, which is apparently a big Supernatural song. I just like to belt it out. And, the inevitable Lady Marmelade (where I got a little nostalgic for Aimee *sniff*) and Baby Got Back. FUN. FUN. FUN. Even Bicyclops got on the dance floor.

I thought that I'd taken a bunch more, but apparently, I was having too much fun to take pictures. So, here are my photos: [link]

After the usual merriment and afterparty (where I had a shot of Fernet. I always convince myself that it's not as bad as I remember, and when I do it, it's worse), bed was had. Stupid hotels with their stupid checkout times forced me to get up after a very few hours of sleep. Plus, the hotel had no alarm clock, so I set my Treo. However, I was worried that it wouldn't wake me up, so I kept waking up to make sure that I didn't oversleep. urgh.

Met up with the gang in the suite, we went to Atkins Park again, where they were very accomodating and gave us one big table, though we'd offered to be split up. Had the same cute waiter, and very good food. Crab cake benedict, mmmm.

Went to Ginger's after. Had a quiet afternoon of catching up (quality time with Bev, yay!). at 5:45, I suggested that we start talking about dinner, and with usual Buffista togetherness, ended up ordering at 7 or so:) Yummy thai and indonesian. there were some, um, issues, and I ended up having the tip refunded (well, if you're going to add a tip just because the order is large, you damn well better get the order right)

Bicyclops was kind enough to drive me to the airport. I was willing to take public transport, but having a flight at 10:50pm is a lot easier when you don't have to spend an hour on the train. You do that once you GET to the damn airport in Atlanta. The flight was totally full, and apparently, there were many people waiting on standby. Luckily I had checked in online and gotten my aisle seat.

Home, and a quick unpack and bed.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

(Gang, am I right that Frank was the only attendee who didn't want to jump their Eddie?)

eh. I was more interested in the techie with long hair and a great jawline.

Frank (um, Rocky Horror one) had a serious ass on him. However, given that he was held up as the exception to the "no open flames" rule in the theatre, not much play there.

Did none of us learn the essential lesson of Rocky Horror? No need to pick just one! Little need to quibble about "orientation". It's a beautiful beautiful world. One size fits all, if you will...

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

So I arrived home safe and sound. Two days of pretty much full-on driving was an interesting (as in the ancient Chinese curse) combination of intense and boring. Among other things, I'd like to know why apparently no one outside of New England knows how to pass an 18-wheeler without taking a week to do so.

Totally fried at this point and going to bed, but wanted to chime in on what a fabulous time I had meeting so many more of the Buffistas in person. Also, I need to give some monster props to Ginger and Brenda for their mad org skills. I also need to take my wonderful car to the wash, as she deserves it after serving me unwaveringly, despite the attack of bug splat and plant jizz.

I do have the unmistakeable impression that my hat had a somewhat better time at the F2F than I did, since it perched on some lovely heads AND took a few boobie rides, but I had a blast all the same. Just sorry my early departure negated a late night in the hospitality suite.

Pictures! Not very many, I'm afraid I kept getting caught up in conversations and forgetting I had a camera. I haven't looked at them yet, I hope they aren't all floors and ceilings. Captioning after coffee.
