Yeah, I haven't gotten around to the whole Little Five Points (there's a Five Points downtown) thing. Little Five Points is where the '60s never died. It starts about three-quarters of a mile from the hotel.
Is that a 3/4 of a mile that can be walked to? I know that's an issue around Atlanta, and though I have a car, other than specific errands I'd rather be walking around if I can.
Me for tapas!
I'd do whiskey if I was there in time, but alas, I am not.
Yes, it is. The hotel is between Little Five Points/Inman Park and Virginia Highlands, and both are good walking areas with sidewalks.
Inman Park has old sidewalks that are kind of difficult in the dark or when drinking, but there are good sidewalks to Virginia-Highlands and Little Five Points. (How would I know that?) My only suggestion would be to not turn left on Ponce and walk very far towards downtown after dark, unless you're actually looking for a hooker.
Thanks, Ginger, for expanding on that. Found my old list of places.
edited to be in my order of liking
Stefans Vintage (1160 Euclid Avenue) - high end vintage - got a rhinestone necklace for bellydancing here.
Rag-o-rama (1111 Euclid Avenue NE) - LOVE this place. Like Buffalo Exchange, if you've seen one of those. When I was there in September, I got a leather vest and red fake snakeskin pants for my Halloween costume and 3 skirts for work. Nice, spacious layout and lots of quality stuff.
Junkman's Daughter (464 Moreland Ave NE ) - funky clothes (i.e. Lip Service) and shoes, gag gifts, etc. Kind of overpriced, IMHO.
Psycho Sisters Consignment (428 Moreland Ave.) - packed to the GILLS. Hard to find anything. But a whole lot of fun/wacky going on. This is the place to get a feather boa or platform go go boots for prom.
coffee and a croissant:
I hereby volunteer to be the recycling coordinator for the weekend. Brenda and Ginger, do we know if the hotel provides recycling facilities? I'll be happy to talk to them about it, or help find nearby facilities.
If anyone wants to help me on this, please let me know. I'm thinking a lot of bottles/cans will be generated this weekend, and office paper, too.

I love the "or when drinking"
smonster, I think I love you.
I was going to bring bags and put up big signs, because I'm kind of obsessive on the subject. We can check to see if the hotel does recycling, but my plan was to have people put recyclables in plastic bags. I can throw them in the truck and take them to a recycling center.
I'd also like some people to volunteer times to cruise through the hospitality suite and clean up the assorted debris.

Pfft! Who doesn't love smonster?

RW&A, Ginger. Why don't you make that the first thing you put on the board?
Also, adding smonster and brenda to the nail list we're now up to 9. Will that nail place take us, Ginger?
I keep going over the list of clothes and other things to bring. What should I wear to the Rocky Horror show?
Also I just thought of a cd to bring but I have no idea where it is, but I thought y'all might like to hear the local Pirate band. I have a feeling I'm going to extremely over pack.
