Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

What -t said. I've always chipped in for prom even if I didn't go and I'm sure many others will do the same thing this year. Plus, disco ball!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm willing to contribute, too. But it sounds very much like this is going to be a very small do, compared with DC, Chicago and the west coast ones. I haven't heard any of the west coasties say they're coming, with the exception that if things go well *one* of the Zmayhem may be able to come.

I think we need a head count of peeps who are planning to come, *unless* prevented by last-minute circumstances, with those who *hope* to come but haven't yet commited. A count would give us a better gauge of how large a room we're going to need for Hospitality, and for Prom.

If I'm being an unreasonable pessimist about the numbers, feel free to shoot me down.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm with -t and Sail. I'm planning to come but I'll gladly chip in for Prom even if I can't. And having the Prom in the ballroom where we're staying sounds like the best option.

How soon do we have to book our rooms to be sure we'll get one?

I have no idea, Bev. I'm trying another poll. We got 20 yes or probably answers the last time around, but since then it seems like more people have talked about coming.

Yay! More is good.

Umm, that unreasonable pessimist part? I wasn't just kidding about that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I hope to come, but I didn't say "Yes" or even "probably" on the poll. I won't be comfortable with even a "probably" until I have plane tickets.

Looking at the ballroom, it gives me a nice sense of nostalgia for the hotel restaurant in Evanston that we held our first prom at.

I've decided to drive. It's only 13 hours @@ ... but planes are a hassle and I have control issues about being without my car.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

the hotel restaurant in Evanston that we held our first prom at.

If I take the CTA to or from work, most times I notice the hotel out the train window and think about the F2F....
