Ginger, thanks for that. What's the other prom option? I'm very concerned about the cost of doing it at the hotel.
Don't know if this is remotely possible - I was thinking about the theatre where they thought they might be able to do a OMWF thing. If I'm remembering correctly, I don't think they have any room. But I seem to recall there was a restaurant next door, in the same strip. Maybe that would be an option, to sort of combine those two?
I do think that taxis back and forth would be a reasonablish idea, in that area.
If anybody wants to catch some of the Oscar-Nominated flicks this Monday I think Ima be doing my own little film festival but I'd love to have company and I can even get you free tix.
ETA: Los Angeles Area
Well, I think Mexican food is something we do awfully well here in LA so I suggest possibly thinking along those lines. I'll be done with skating by 6:45 or so and will be in Glendale, but will go anywhere.
Hey, Robin, speaking of Mexican food in L.A., how is Mariasol's, do you know?
Do you have a car, btw, or will you need a ride?
At this point, it looks like I'll need a ride.
GODDAMN FUCKING SONOFABITCH!!!
I just got a notice for jury duty. On May 3rd. While it probably won't amount to anything more than a day of boredom, (1) I can't take a chance that I won't get chosen, so I don't dare make any reservation for the F2F and (2) I was already supposed to be almost a week into my road trip at that point. I can reschedule the road trip, but there's no way I can do the F2F (flying down and back for just the weekend is not really an option - it kinda had to be part of my road trip).
FUCK!
Call and say you're out of town that week? It's worked for me in the past, but I was in uni so that might have counted for more than a vacation would.
In Massachusetts, you can delay jury duty for up to a year without giving a reason. There should be something in your summons about it.

Not on the list of legitimate disqualifiers for MA (hell, not having means to get to the court house isn't a legitimate disqualifier unless you're disabled - I got lucky with the locations the last few times this happened when I didn't have a car). I think uni might count as living elsewhere for the right amount of time.
Usually I don't mind this civic duty stuff, but this is the third time I've had to do this (and they tried to get me for a fourth, but I had been within 3 years).

I didn't see that. I'll have to look at the material more closely. Thanks Jon, I was just kind of flabbergasted and hadn't really looked in depth.
Also, I don't know if this might be different because it's the superior court rather than the district one.
