You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Sorry didn't mean to kill the thread.

Re: The Once More With Feeling sing-along: The theatre doesn't have to aquire a film version. All they need is a digital projector. Of course, they have to be able to fit it in their projection booth but that's usually not too hard.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Here are the poll results:

April 13, 2007

Yes (34%)
No (34%)
Maybe (32%) 29 total votes

April 20, 2007

Yes (40%)
No (36%)
Maybe (24%) 30 total votes

April 27,2007

Yes (36%)
No (26%)
Maybe (36%)

30 total votes

May 4, 2007

Yes (44%)
No (20%)
Maybe (34%) 29 total votes

And the winner is: May 4

There's really no way to predict the temperature, but that early in May is usually pretty moderate. The high can range from 50 to the mid 70s.

The next question is "Do we need to rent the ballroom for prom?"

Here is a comparison of room rates with and without ballroom rental:

Single: $62.95/$81.85
Queen:$77.35/$89.95
Double: $86.35/$99.95
Suite: $95.35/$105.95

We'd pay $1,000 to $1,200 for ballroom rental, plus food, which would be less than hotel catering; alcohol; a bartender; and snacks and drinks for the hospitality suite. Does anyone have any expertise in figuring out what it would cost to stock the bar?

I can also call Manuel's [link] tomorrow and see if I can get some figures. One problem for some of us is that the smoke sneaks into nonsmoking areas, although the haze of smoke has definitely gone down from the old days.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Sigh...that's the weekend of Malice Domestic, which I'm already signed up for. Ah, well...

Odds are there'll be sales before then. I'll let you know when I see a sale.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

You know, for May and for Atlanta, there's actually a fair possibility I can attend. Since Atlanta is a main interchange for international flights, it could be affordable.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Just because I'm bored:

Right now I'm seeing flights around $250 from Chicago, NY, Baltimore, Cincinnati; Raleigh/Durham; $275 from Boston; $300 from Columbus, Denver; $350 from LAX, San Francisco; Seattle's at about $400. And like Ginger said, this far out, chances are things will drop before then. With both AirTran and Delta hubs, it's usually possible to find a deal.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

If I recall correctly, Atlanta is the hub for Delta? I'd check with them first. I can get a ticket out of Chicago for around $200 right now. If I try to fly from Madison? $400. Eep! I think I'll take the bus to O'Hare, it's around $25. Talk about savings.
