Yes, my many springs in New England has taught me that the weather can suck total ass regardless of the month.

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: Madison, WI from June 20-22 2008! Official website.
Another thing to keep in mind re. dates/places is that if we're looking at places south of DC, for example, the earlier the better WRT weather.
Thanks for clearing up the East Coast vs. Midwest thing a bit. I know that St. Louis is right out, but I was fuzzy on the status of places such as Nashville, etc.
I'd pimp Atlanta for April. By May, it's getting too damn hot. In April, there might still be dogwoods and azaleas blooming. Atlanta is very much a car city, but if I could find a good deal near a MARTA station, it would be simple for people to get there from the airport and to most of the things people would want to see including the aquarium, CNN, World of Coca-Cola, MLK Historic District and the High Museum.
I'd definitely be interested in Atlanta (for an earlier weekend). I'd really like to visit more southern U.S. cities.
I'll be happy with just about any place. I'm much less familiar with the east coast than the west coast, so it will all be new.
Unless rates have gone up since thanksgiving, the Harvard Square Hotel has freakishly low (for the area) room rates of $99/night. That's the AAA/AARP rate, but I'd assume group rates are no more than that. As long as we don't pick a weekend near graduation, we should have no trouble getting rooms. We had family members make reservations there for last thanksgiving, and there were no complaints.
And the name is accurate. It is RIGHT in the Square.
Is that the one just north of the Charles River, near the indie cineplex?
NC probably will be gorgeous and comfortable for most folks through late May and early June. By mid-June, it's just too humid, along with the hot, to do much of anything outdoors.
I don't really have much to say, but I could probably make it to Prom if it's a more NorthEasterly city (Boston, New York, Philly, Providence, etc.) by pulling the same bus deal I did today, but probably not anywhere else. Unless we do very late June, after I don't have students to herd, but that's unlikely I'd think.
Not that that's pimping.
I'd try to pimp NYC because I love it here ever so much, but I'm quite aware that a city where $250 for a hotel room is considered low end is probably out of the picture.
P-C, we'll be around on the 23rd but likely packing. Whee. You're welcome to help us packcome visit if you'd like!
