Third week in June is what I'd propose. Right before the tourist season but after most of the graduations.

ETA: Jessica, basically for me, unless I'm on vacation (next year that will be the last week in March and the first week in April), any time before school gets out is deadly.

It's not all about me, obviously, but it is true that it's generally very difficult for any teacher/student to take days off of work/school because of the reprucussions from the school.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

But for those of us still in school, late June is already after summer jobs have started, and there's generally no way to take time off from those. Late May is generally after classes have ended, but before summer stuff starts. Early June might work better.

Early June is exams for me and the very end of school for anyone in a K-12 situation. Maybe mid-June? Second weekend?

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I already know that I won't be able to attend next year because I shall be a poor, unemployed student teacher next spring. So, have it whenever. I will be home crying.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I vote that we hold the F2F in a stasis bubble that will allow everyone to take as much time off as they want without losing any time in the outside world.

information libertarian

Speaking as an NCista who may not be living here by next summer, so is not really pimping: Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill has many excellent qualities, activities, and Buffistas, but it is very car-intensive, which compared to everywhere else the F2F has been so far seems to be a big negative. As far as dates, late June is almost always hot in NC; in late May you at least have a chance of it being under 90 degrees. Local graduations are typically mid-May, coinciding with Mother's Day.

Right, but if it's in the Northeast, mid-June is some of the most gorgeous weather we get all year. May runs the risk of constant rain.

t shrugs

It's always a trick, I know, but I worry that concerns over heat or lack thereof--which let's face it, can happen freakishly in any spring/summer month--will overrule when people can actually make it. After all, it was hot as hell in NOLA and DC in May the past couple of years, and it was chilly and rainy in San Fran.

Any chance we could have a poll?

FTR, June next year has five weekends: June 9th or June 16th might be possible Prom dates if we do vote for June.

ETA: LOVE Myrtle beach.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Good idea.

As a backup plan, we could have the F2F in a Zeppelin that flies from city to city....
