'War Stories'

The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Julie Christie gave a nice shout-out to the writers at the SAGs.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm thinking that a teenager raised by Sarah Connor and possessing physical proof of killer robots from the future out to get him would manifest teenage foolishness via paranoid overreaction rather than staggering naiveté.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

You know, I actually told somebody Spidey 3 was pretty good. Then I saw this Youtube: [link] . I nearly cried.

That is one of the aforementioned scenes, yes.

I think since Spidey 2 and Fantastic Four 1 (there's some time I'll never get back) I've avoided summer blockbusters that don't involve pirates in eyeliner.

You didn't like Spidey 2 ?! I loved that more than the first one.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I think it was Spidey 2 that had the "standing in your doorway" line. I liked this actor [link] and the effects were sometimes cool, but I need story and characters that interest me.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I would have loved for something more to have happened in Spidey 2. He starts of being broke and loveless and in an untenable position wrt to integrating superheroing in his life.

He ends it with one more demand on his time than he started out with.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

"Either it's murder, or this library has a very strict overdue policy."

I think he bugs me because he seems so much less savvy and street smart than he did in T2

Well, yeah, the lack of street smarts bugs me a bit but on the other hand he's not such a whiny brat so I call it an upside. And really, apart from the electronics and petty crime stuff, the T2-John wasn't that bright either.

Also, he stayed in the house for three days with bugger all to do -- if that would have been me, I'd already be seriously crazy at that point.

In the continuing tradition of Minearverse as soap thread, did we all know that Shirley Jones is going to be on DOOL?

Our wings are not tired.

I saw that! Now if they asked me who they can drop from the cast...
