[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Thanks P-C, I needed a new coffee mug, anyway.
I almost made an AMPTP one for a giggle then, but I couldn't think what to put on it.
On the Cash for the Crew thing, I vaguely remember someone writing about how the MPTF donation page wasn't secure, but don't remember what ever came about it. I was kind of waiting for that to be resolved, but when I went to donate today, I realized that it's still not secure, not even the page where you enter credit card info. Does anyone know anything about this or have a suggestion for an easy, alternate way to donate? Thanks!
I know they were working on the issue but I guess they haven't solved it yet. You can also make a donation by phone at 818-876-1977.
Thanks Kristen!
Cheerios:
I hope that this doesn't come back to bite them. If someone gets ahold of even just a few donors credit card numbers, it'll be really, really crappy. We ran into something where my professional association was hacked - it was even https. This was years ago and we're still hearing about it. And my state professional association is tiny, with no full time staff, so we get a pass on a lot.
I do realize that I'm most likely preaching to the converted here.
The IT company who put together their website needs shooting; it's a half hour job to put an SSL certificate on it. It doesn't actually provide much in the way of the way of security (it's basically a marketing tool), but it's easy money so god knows what went wrong when they set the site up.
Yeah, the thing is, a lot of people won't donate online unless that https is there, and a lot of people won't bother to then look for another way to donate, because, really, there are so many really worthy charities out there that do have the https and make everything easy.
Force majeures have started, timed with the DGA talks which have begun.
Among the ABC Studios talent cut loose: Gabe Sachs & Jeff Judah ("What About Brian"), Nina Wass & Gene Stein ("Less Than Perfect"), Bill Callahan ("Scrubs"), Larry Charles ("Curb Your Enthusiasm"), Sean Bailey ("Project Greenlight") and the team of Joshua Sternin & Jeffrey Ventimilia ("That '70s Show," "Surviving Christmas"). "Private Practice" thesp Taye Diggs, who had a production deal at ABC Studios with partner-manager Abe Hoch, has also had that pact terminated.
