the only way they can get any benefit is to really go for it.
No, it isn't. They'd gain a lot more ground, and respect, if they'd pick their battles. Regardless, the strike is taking its economic toll on the networks as it's meant to do. Petty statements about Leno and the re-purposed Golden Globes do not help the cause.
Also whatever the WGA is doing wrong, it is not the WGA who is refusing to strike a deal.
He may not work as a writer because of his WGA membership...
What would happen if he did write? Would he get kicked out of the WGA?
this was bad enough, but this is fucking ridiculous and that guy needs to be prosecuted.

This is where I am. Every time I head over to Mazin's blog there's another case of the Guild leadership overstepping, or not sticking to its own rules, and I want to keep kicking them. 2.5 on new media. Stick to that. Negotiate with that. Stop meddling in every other sort of writing.
I keep waiting for them to posthumously unionize egyptian hieroglyphic writers and demand back residuals from dead pharoahs.
Dude. I WANT YOU TO GET YOUR 2.5%. BUT YOU MUST CHILL. I HAVE HIDDEN YOUR KEYS.
This was a lot easier when unions would just rough people up to get their way.
I can see why they are going after reality though, Allyson - the next time this happens, it would put them in a much better place as far as I see it.
Part of the problem here is the WGA voted to go on strike, and the studios went 'So fucking what? We'll put reality on. And we make loads of money from multiple things, so we can wait it out longer too. Roughly until the DGA appears, actually'. I have no problems with studios. What I do have a problem with is the corporate setup basically means a strike under the current situation is ultimately ineffective for the writers.
Of course, the AMPTP members aren't going to let reality go on the table for the above reason without a fight. And that's a fight which is going to cost everybody dear, it appears
Too bad the AMPTP doesn't have gears the writers could throw their shoes into.
