I can see why they are going after reality though, Allyson - the next time this happens, it would put them in a much better place as far as I see it.
Part of the problem here is the WGA voted to go on strike, and the studios went 'So fucking what? We'll put reality on. And we make loads of money from multiple things, so we can wait it out longer too. Roughly until the DGA appears, actually'. I have no problems with studios. What I do have a problem with is the corporate setup basically means a strike under the current situation is ultimately ineffective for the writers.
Of course, the AMPTP members aren't going to let reality go on the table for the above reason without a fight. And that's a fight which is going to cost everybody dear, it appears
Too bad the AMPTP doesn't have gears the writers could throw their shoes into.
Weinstein Says He Reached Deal With Writers.
This could be pretty big. Wonder how many side deals it will take before the AMPTP decides it should get in on that action.

From IMDb news, regarding the Golden Globes cancellation:
Best Actress nominee Nikki Blonsky tells MTV News, "It's kind of like you've got your dress, you're getting ready for the senior prom, you've got your hair and your makeup, and somebody goes, 'Prom's canceled!' That's what it's like. This was going to be a super-crazy prom. But it's not going to be."
Those damn mean, ugly nerds.
"It's kind of like you've got your dress, you're getting ready for the senior prom, you've got your hair and your makeup, and somebody goes, 'Prom's canceled!'
Um, it's like that if you're a total idiot and didn't see this coming. I know it takes a while to prepare, but really, I don't think that level of hyperbole does anyone any good.
Of course, this could just me getting all Cranky McCrankypants from lack of sleep and
another
cold coming on. Feh.
In her defense, she's 19 and completely new to the movie business. But still.
Yeah, I really think the important context here is that this was going to be her first awards show. Ever. After a completely unexpected rise to a starring role in a major motion picture. I'd be disappointed in her case too. Especially since, sadly, I doubt she'll be getting too many starring roles in the future, as Tracy Turnblad is a rather intentionally unlikely star character.
She could always continue following in Ricki Lake's footsteps with a Sugarbaby revival...
