I hadn't seen that Kristen - thanks. I've had a go at translating the Letterman thing, although I did it before coffee so it's a bit stupid.
I went to the MPTV fund website to link them up, and the page I landed on had a video entitled "IRA Support Video". For a second I was all, hang on, they tried to blow my best friend up years ago.
United Hollywood has announced StrikeTV, a streaming internet station.
The Guardian has an excellent article about it: [link]
It's basically an attempt by WGA members to launch a direct to consumer internet model themselves. They aim to have content going out by February sweeps.
ETA: I just had a thought about the Rob Thomas thing. Since Joss is doing BTVS and Angel still in comics, I can't see the WGA having an issue with Veronica Mars comics.
I go to bed and, when I wake, the whole world has gone strikewankeriffic. StrikeTV! Threats of FiCore! Skywriting at the Rose Bowl! I don't know where to begin...
I think I'll go to the gym and then, maybe, shopping.

HA! I haven't looked yet but my translation would've been:
WGA says, "We made a deal with Dave because he's awesome. Plus, who doesn't want to stick it to Jeff Zucker?"
WWP says, "Dave is happy to have his writers back because he's awesome. How do you like us now, NBC?"
SAG says, "Everyone go on Letterman! He's more awesome than Jay!"
AMPTP says, "Damnit, why doesn't anyone think we're awesome? Dave's not even a REAL studio. We never him play our super secret cabal games."
Jay Leno could not comment through his tears of bitter frustration.
See, that's why you're a writer and I'm not. I wrote a load of bollocks.
And just like that, Kristen made my enjoyment of the holiday season complete with the mental image of Jay Leno crying like a baby.
I knew about Worldwide Pants, how long has there been a Worldwide Trousers?
I am so out of the loop...

It felt kind of mean of me, what with it being the holidays and all, to take pleasure in someone else's pain. But with Matt for company...hahahaha!!!
I don't know what it is about Jay. I liked him when he started. I think he's funny and I don't really know, but he seems like a decent enough person. I think it may be the hot pink backdrop. I am so petty.

Thanks! Maybe I can get a job on Letterman. Dave, call me!

I assume it's some kind of dba thing since everything they've produced always says "Worldwide Pants."

For me, it was the Late Shift. Bill Carter's account of how the Carson Debacle went down really paints Leno as a nice guy but a weak one, who'd rather turn a blind eye than face reality.
In shopping news, I bought socks. And a jacket that I started to regret buying before I even got out of the mall's garage.
For me, it was the Late Shift.
That was kinda painful for me to watch. Several times. I wanted to like them all so much more than I did after that.
Return the jacket.
I wanted to like them all so much more than I did after that.
Oddly, the movie version almost made me like Mike Ovitz.
I really do like the jacket. It's just a very light color so I'm worried about keeping it clean. I'm trying to rationalize the purchase by reminding myself that whatever I bought today will probably not fit me in two months anyway.
Funny strike related moment: I was deciding between two jackets and had to put one of them back. Because it was red. I might never want to wear that color again.
