Days, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and As the World Turns have enough scripts to take them through at least january, while Guiding Light could be OK for another month beyond that. One Life to Live, General Hospital and All My Children are also are set through the beginning of the year.

There are some people who are of the opinion that writers are all Very Rich. There was a bit in the press the other day about the average writer earning $200k a year or some such.

$200k a year in LA isn't exactly rolling in the dough though, is it? plus, what Kristin said. i don't see how wanting to get paid for something they created makes them the bad guy in this scenario.
Anyway, if that's the mean, it includes Shonda Rimes and other people who make millions as well as your regular writer-on-the-street.
So what's happening to shows with Canadian writers? Are they likely to turn to Hollywood North for scab labour? Is it really scab if they're from a whole different country? Is there union relations between the two countries that'd dictate how everything should go down?

Nope, it isn't. Not to say I would complain about making that much, but it certainly isn't much to the Hollywood crowd.
But again, successful writers work in an incredibly lucrative industry. The issue isn't how much people in TV/movies make in general; it's about fairness in dividing the profits overall.
ETA: x-post with Allyson--in case I wasn't clear, yes, $200K is rolling in dough for most of us. It isn't over the top for Hollywood, was what I meant. And honestly, I think that's beside the point anyway if all we're talking is residuals--not to mention that most writers make nowhere near that much.
