If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I don't have enough information to be scared of anything yet.

I have enough things turning me into a seething ball of feminist rage right now without borrowing trouble before anything even hits my TV screen, therefore I am cautiously optimistic.

shrift is me. I think I'd like to, you know, see something before I make a judgment call on this premise.

Punishingly Intricate

I think I'd like to, you know, see something before I make a judgment call on this premise.

Seriously.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think you can judge the premise without pre-judging the product, really.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm not making a judgment call. I'm just having thoughts. I don't think anyone has said "this show will suck" or "I will not watch this show."

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I think I'd like to, you know, see something before I make a judgment call on this premise.

Eh, I just like to have a starting baseline going in, y'know? That way, I'm not blindsided by Feminist Rage Issues like I was with Heroes. I can set my expectations to low, and be pleased whenever it exceeds them.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't see anything wrong with the premise, though. It's fear of its implementation--that it skews female and sexual and exploitative, which has *not* been stated--that people seem to be reacting to.

Kristen - Nov 01, 2007 8:32:40 am PDT #7263 of 10001

I don't see anything wrong with it either but I'm pretty sure what started us down this path was

I have to say I'm dubious about the premise of the show.

which was why I chose that word.

As to the implementation, I'm going to wait and see. Maybe it'll be the new BtVS kind of show. Maybe it'll be Bionic Woman. I just don't know.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Bionic Woman that doesn't suck? I'm in.

I’m with Fay. Can it really be an accident that the title and the theme of developing self-awareness parallel Ibsen so well?

A little blonde girl who kills all of the monsters is a good premise. But she had superpowers thrust upon her. A woman who overcomes major obstacles to self-awareness and self-expression through her own perception, intelligence, and determination could be good too. Something for those who don't have superpowers.
