Drive didn't win it's Emmy for special effects in a mini-series.
However, Zoic won Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series for Battlestar Galactica S3 (Exodus Part 2).
Well deserved, as the Galactica dropping out of the sky was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen. Then they went and blew up Pegasus, which was also supercool. I don't know how those Zoic guys do it. I've never questioned the reality of their spaceships. It really really looks like they're just filming actual spaceships.
Yeah, I've said this somewhere else - probably here - but the Galactica dropping out of the sky through atmo bit of S3 actually made me sit there and say out loud 'Oh, wow!'. Because it was... wow.
