[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

I think the first season was supposed to be as long as it ended up being. It just never got a second season due to poor ratings.

Personally, I tried to stick with the show and couldn't do it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I quite liked it, but couldn't work out how it could sustain more than the one season.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I think that maybe he could have moved to a new city with his step daughter, and he needed to pull another heist to make money since he gave it all to what'shisname to get her back.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Part of the appeal to me was the post-Katrina New Orleans vibe, so I don't know if it would have worked after that for me. I'm content with the six episodes (or whatever) there were.

The evil is this way?

The televisionwithoutpity folks mention Drive's nomination:

Drive

Ostensibly Nominated For: Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Miniseries, Movie, Or A Special

Actually Nominated For: Maintaining Tim Minear's reputation as a producer's producer...in spite of Wonderfalls, Standoff, The Inside, Firefly.

ETA: Those are all Fox Broadcasting shows, yes?

Parents TV vs Tim Minear:

Wherein we learn that the huge spike in indecency complaints lodged at the FCC in third quarter 2005 came as a result of one organization: yep, the Parents Television Council. The PTC filed 23,542 of the 23,547 complaints the FCC received in July, mostly against the same two programs, including "The Inside" on Fox.

The complaint (and a handy online website to file it) is available here:
