Spike: Ladies. Come on in. Plenty of blood in the fridge, don't be shy. Dawn: You mean like, real blood? Spike: What do you think? Dawn: Mostly I think, 'Eew!'

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

What a phenomenal waste of talent and potential. I'm sorry for Tim and Kristen most of all, but this sucks for the rest of us, too.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Who gets the money, though? Ratings bring in advertiser dollars to the network NOW, but how else does the network get more money afterward? Syndication is one way, right? Do they get a cut of the merchandising? I thought the studio got that, as it's their property.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Pretty much, Polter-Cow. Networks worry about now. That's why Dancing With The Stars is The Awesome for them -- it generates a load of advertising money immediately. Lack of DVD sales? They don't care.

Every one of FOX's shows this year failed bar 5th Grader. They got problems.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I wasn't watching any of their shows beforehand. And now I'm back to that.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Are there shows being developed for the web or any sites showing web only serial content yet? I have network shows I like and watch online or via iTunes, but so many things I have liked in the past 3 - 5 years get cancelled that it seems like less expensive production and then distribution via web could be profitable with a smaller audience. right?

There's one show in development, msbelle, with Amanda Tapping. I've forgotten what it's called. NBC also had a web show called "Nobody's Watching", which moved to the web as it was popular on Youtube. However it's since been canceled.

The problem with web shows and such is you don't get the dollar backing network TV provides. So you couldn't do anything remotely expensive.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Fans are the ones producing online programming. There's a whole genre of Star Wars universe stuff, and Star Trek New Voyages.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I think Fox should give us a boxed set of The Inside and Drive.

I also agree with what people have said about a Tim show doing better on FX or another cable station. TCG and I were discussing that during the Drive premiere.

Yeah. I catch Bones once in a blue moon out of DB affection if I'm home that early on a Wednesday night and remember it's on. But Fox has burned me so many times I'm not willing to try new shows unless I have a strong emotional stake in them before the first broadcast.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Fluff like Dancing with the Stars?

I work for the company that produces Dancing, so I'm a bit protective of it. (Even if I didn't know and like the people involved, the money it makes does partly determine my annual bonus.) Can we dump on American Idol instead?

Are there shows being developed for the web or any sites showing web only serial content yet?

Yes, but (so far) not by the big networks. There's a lot of so-called "independent television" being released online, some of it very good -- it's a similar trend to the way low-budget indie films are being released online instead of just winding up in some studio exec's trash bin.

The studios are primarily concentrating on producing short-form content geared towards phones -- partly because it's easier to control distribution and partly because users already expect to pay for phone-based content. People expect things online to be free, which means an ad-based business model, which is exactly what's already not working on TV.
