The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

What is even happening?

I fell asleep last night, but in my defense, I was very tired. We didn't sit down to watch TV until 10, and watched Heroes, first. We then put on Drive. Scott was out by the first commercial break. I fell asleep just for one minute, around halfway through. Then Scott woke me up to tell me go to bed. We'd recorded Drive on the TiVo, so I decided he was right.

I paused for a moment when Ryan Reynolds was on the screen. I got a kick out of seeing him in Drive, because I knew he'd been in Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place, and of course Nathan was in that, too. Then I saw John C. McGinley and Christa Miller, and was surprised I didn't know they were doing a guest shot on Drive.

I remarked on it to Scott and he couldn't figure out what I was talking about. I figured he was just stupid from sleeping, so I said, "Never mind. I'll tell you in the morning, when you're more awake."

It was only after the second time I saw Ryan Reynolds sitting on a bench between Zach Braff and Donald Faison, that I twigged to the fact that Drive was long over, and I was actually watching a Scrubs re-run. D'oh. I guess I was asleep for longer than a minute.

Topic!Cindy - Sheesh, if Tim was going to start with the killing, couldn't he have named one of these characters "Scott" after your hubby? Doesn't Tim still owe you one good "Scott" killing?

Narrator, if Tim could hear Scott every time we tuned into Drive, he'd kill him again, and again, and again. "A Scott" would be the Minearverse equivalent of the Star Trek "red shirt." His, "You'll never get me, Minear," plus cackle, is now part of his pre-show ritual. It was tough last week, with three episodes in a row.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I thought that too, Vortex, about the stupid choice about whom to trust.

Our wings are not tired.

Alex giving them the box and telling them to stay put seemed a giant leap of faith to me.

It was tough for me jumping right from Drive to Heroes. I'm not used to having 2 things to watch. Maybe 2 a week, not 2 a night! I think I am going to have to stop the live watch and go to tape delay. Sorry, but the breaks really annoy me. I will enjoy the tension of feel of the show so much more without commercial interruption. If ratings people watch my Directv log it is on!

My family (silly inexperienced viewers) were shocked with the death. I reminded them that these cross country illegal races are all fun and games until someone dies in a bloody crash. Show is educational too.

I'm interested in finding out who killed her.

yeah, I wanted a bit to decompress from Drive. I mean, I could have, since I was Tivoing Heroes, but I wanted to watch it right away :) and watch and post.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

"The kill ratio is going up. I love Tim."

Yet another reason to love Sail

Heh. Heoes is the show I SERIOUSLY need to decompress from. Adding Drive on top of it is like a TV heart attack. I thought I might have watched my DVRed 24 from last night after Heroes, but, even with the unintentional hilarity that provides these days, it isn't relaxing.

I certainly wasn't going to watch The Riches or Raines right then.

Yeah, I couldn't watch The Riches. I love it, but have to be in the right frame of mind.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Heh. I went straight from Drive to Heroes to The Riches and then Waking the Dead. Why no, I was not asleep until nearly 4 am. Why do you ask?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Drive got creamed by Dancing with the Stars last night. It got a 3.3/5 compared to last week's 3.7/6.
