The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

I really hope tonight's numbers are better. I like the show. My husband likes the show. My 9 year old likes it.

NF is hot as hell in this. It's like the role was written specifically for him.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

That look at the end was priceless. I want a screencap. And to spend a night in a motel with Alex Tully.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Yes, I believe that was mentioned in the USA Today article linked to upthread.

As soon as they showed it, I said "electric centaur!"

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Whoo! Man, I miss being a West Coaster with East Coast channels. So I could watch with the East and then watch again with the West.

Still liking it, still having fun. I love how all the characters have their buckle-down, drop-the-facade personas at beck and call.

I'll give Tim some time to develop character before I start talking feminism. You hear that, close to the earth boy?

Even realizing what the deal was at the end, it was still shocking to me to see the back of the set that was the interrogation room. Wish that actor had been a little better; I thought the transition could have been more subtly done.

I lay you money that Winston's backstory isn't what he claims it to be, either. I bet the brothers are more alike than Sean thinks they are.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Love the show.

Love it.

Hung-up-on-my-sister-in-the-middle-of-good-gossip-covered-in-chocolate love it.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

re: landscape. There was nothing that could be done to clean it up, at least not in budget and time. I wanted to slap the director around, myself. I mean, dude, you could have shot in the opposite direction and made it all better.

But you know, what the fuck do I know? Right?

I'm mostly angry at the ratings, because I just don't understand. I'm unsure how much of my anger is influenced by bias, but I think it ticked up significantly around the posts where folks said they were enjoying the show with their whole families.

I only know what happens up to 106, but it's been a squeally joy to read the comments and think, "YOU GOT IT!" And, "Wow, you're totally fucking off. Like, you're mountains in Florida off."

And giggle. Seriously, I'm upset that the ratings are so low, because it's a given that those of you in like with it, will be in love with it later. There's all sorts of cool shit coming up, and I think Minear has laid some stones one way, and some birdseed the other, and we're all a bunch of Hansels and Gretyls who will find HSQ in either direction.

It's either, "Oh shit, he went there!"

Or, "Oh shit, I had no idea he was gonna go there!"

I hate having to be vague.

I think Mr. Closer to the Earth laid some birdseed in the Earth direction, though, and that path will get gobbled up before anyone tears their hair out.

And no one ascends. This I can say with some certainty.

Vague spoilers which make me hope that someone at Fox allows it all to play out: The pacing keeps up. Winston gets sexier. Corinna rocks. Alex gets Dark Wesleyer. Twists snap your neck.

And it's still funny.

It's such a double-edged sword with the knowing. I miss speculating with the post and watchers. And I want to tell you everything! Because it's made of awesome!

Gah. Please let the Nielsen's tick up to explosive levels. Please.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

OMG! I liked the show yesterday, but I am truly in love tonight. I can't wait for next week. I'm falling more and more in love with the characters. I think that Wendy and Winston grew on me the most tonight. Nathan Fillion is it for me, though. Watching him feels almost like having Firefly back. That sounds horrible. It's not having Firefly back, exactly. It's more that I'm starting to think that I'm going to feel about this show like I feel about Firefly. Which makes me weep.

I really thought the ratings would be better for this one. I really did. I just hope, hope, hope that they're better tonight. I hope that millions of people TiVoed last night while watching TAR, and tonight they've caught up and are watching live. PLEASE.

Good. I trust. Okay, admittedly I have trust issues, too, but I trust.
