If only Tim had put a Beagle in Alex's car.

The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
but horror comedy, which tank.

DH kept making Cannonball Run jokes about Drive until I made him stop.
Shaun of the Dead was a low budget film, though. Fully agree it did well, but would have struggled not to have. Compare "Hot Fuzz" to "Shaun of the Dead" (same actors, writers, directors) -- "Hot Fuzz" took more in it's first 3 days than "Shaun of the Dead" took in it's entire release. In the UK, "Hot Fuzz" made more than Serenity did on it's entire worldwide release. The only thing different about the two films is the setting and genre, really.
I got a bit shirty with my boss earlier for no reason other than I'd just read the Drive news. So I best go home.
Shit.
Or, as I just spent the last few minutes saying to somebody: fuck.
I'm really worried about the dancing show tonight. Somebody needs to set actual monkeys loose in the studio whilst it's on.
edited to add: And I bet Phil has also wished that at times.
Would that he'd given in to the impulse as Rob & Amber showed up.
FUCK!
NO, DAMN IT!
"Hot Fuzz" took more in it's first 3 days than "Shaun of the Dead" took in it's entire release.
I'm very curious to see how it'll do in the States (opens Friday! squee!), since we didn't get Spaced here until well after Shaun became a cult hit on DVD. (And even then only on BBCA, which is in very few homes due to being a digital-only channel.)
It's a marathon, not a sprint. We'll do better tonight.
We'll do better tonight.
Hope so. I'm a bit worries about keeping everyone who did tune it. I mean two hours yesterday, and now you want another hour of our time today? Not good spacing. Yeah, I know that works with mini-series, but that is event programming. This is supposed to be a long term series, and you (the schedulers) want three hours of our time in two days?
