yes what does, "write sides for a character" mean, please?
Shows usually film the scenes of a given episode out of order. The cast members are given the day's "sides" -- the part of the script they're working on, that day. They're easier to drag around with you than an entire script, if you're going to rehearse in between shots.
There are also casting sides, which can be, but aren't always, part of a final script. When a show puts out a casting call, they give auditioning actors "sides" to work off of -- script pages of a scene the character will appear in (or script pages of a scene something like the character may appear in -- in episodic television, a lot of time casting sides come from script drafts, rather than the final version).
I now await correction.
They were also a major source for spoilers in the Buffy and Angel fandoms. Good times. People would spend hours posting about the tiniest bit of information gleamed from the sides.
I couldn't have asked for better responses to my question. Thank you!
I do, however. have questions about the midget. Did he break in? Were you living alone at the time? Or in Twin Peaks?
Forget this Drive crap, I want to hear about the midget. No, seriously.
I feel I ought to point out that the word, "midget" is a derogatory term. Read more here Roger Ebert's Movie Answer Man
But yeah, I want to hear more about the er Little Person.
Thanks for that link, Laga. I had no idea. Danny Woodburn seems like a really intelligent and thoughtful actor.
There really isn't much to the story, other than what I said already.
I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I walked into my living room, where my roommate was entertaining some people she'd met somewhere, and there was the little person doing crunches.
I didn't say anything. I just stared at the strange scene for a minute or two. My roommate, who perhaps was a little...shall we say...HIGH at the moment, started laughing hysterically. I went to the bathroom and then back to bed.
I'm pretty sure I didn't even say anything.
ETA: I should point out that me waking up in the middle of the night to find odd people in my living room was not out of the ordinary. At least the little person wasn't naked.
Kristen, did we share roommates?
I never found little people in my living room, but I did come home once to find that someone had basically given an open invite to everyone at a freakin' Phish concert to come back to our dorm after the show.
Leading to a visit with Housing, where we were lectured about not keeping bongs out where anyone could see them in the event of noise complaints.
