Harvey the wheelcover king: [link]
I love that there is a bottle marked "Alcohol" right beside him.
I'm amazed at how much of my cra- Um, electronics I managed to get in the background.
From the bottomleft, clockwise:
VCR, VCR, 32-port hub, Scanner, TV, computer.
Hardly room for a cat and alcohol.
Hm, okay, I think pin curls of some kind are the most do-able considering my skill level and the amount of time I have. Fingerwaves look a bit beyond me. Shiny I have product for. Excellent.
maybe I've confused a pin curl and a fingerwave...my hair chat is all second-gen anyway, you know.
But I would spot the look.
I think finger waves are the fancy version of pincurls. But my knowledge comes from fifteen minutes of googling, so take that with a grain or twelve of salt.
I'm already out of boxes. I've packed up two cupboards. I don't want to actually have to pay for boxes, but I don't know what else to do.
Jars, there's an LJ community called vintage_hair. There's a few useful tips there, and lots of pictures.
vw, since it's just a temporary pack-up, would garbage bags work? Also, you could try the restaurant downstairs, or your local grocery store for boxes (if it's not too tricky for you to get there and get the boxes back).
I have found that most liquor stores have lots of stout boxes, if you don't mind packing things in Johnny Walker (etc.) boxes.
Also, check with Kinkos, any Office Depot, office max, or other office-based business. These places have used office paper boxes, which are wonderful for moving.
Check where you work. Do they have a copy room? Who runs it? that person might have boxes, too.
vw -- put all the stuff out on a kitchen/dining table and then cut open a couple of trash bags and put them over the dishes like a drop cloth. You shouldn't need to pack up like you're moving; you just need to get everything out of the way so they can get into the cupboards, and aren't coating your dishes with pesticide.
OTOH? If she packs up like she's moving, she can unpack just that which they need for the next few months until they do move...
But I like the garbage bag idea.
Yeah, much of the stuff is in Trader Joe's bags. My friend J came over and helped for a bit. You can no longer walk through the kitchen, but it's mostly packed up.
