Agh. Phantom coffee stains? How can that happen? Oy.
JZ, funny but I ran into someone this morning who said, "So glad it is Friday" with such conviction, I had to thing twice before hipping him to the bad news. Long week indeed!
And, I did let the doofy "thanks for sharing" chick live...only because I thing she lives in Alaska and the airfare just didn't seem worth the potential manslaughter charges, but I did make a statement to the class (and my other classes) about the requirements. Something along the lines of 'ya think yer gonna get credit for that crap when I take two hours to comment on your subpar work? Think agin pardnah.' The professor thanked me.
Oh Nora. So very sorry for your loss. It seems Gregg was very, very well loved. His passing will be sorely felt, but his living will be gladly remembered. Not much more one can really ask from this life.
Oh, poor Emaryn. Play can be rough. Hope it heals quickly and that she at least gets one of those cool florescent-wrapped casts out of it.

What Beej said.
Here's a link to a grammar
quiz
I had to take for my Business Communications class. It only took 5ish minutes, and made me feel all smart (109 out of 111 right, and those two I missed? Seriously never seen them like that). Have fun!
I dunno Epic, I got 106 out of 111. For three of them, I blame the fever. The other two? Hm. I demand a recount.
Specifically
whaling on someone, vs. wailing? Um. Humpback smackdown? Never heard of it
And
I think bold-faced lie
is acceptable usage. Isn't it?
eta: I really blame the fever for the bad math.
Beej - yes to
bold-faced
because it's the type.
DUDE! Those are the exact two I missed! Let's just say that you and I are right, and they're mildly craxy, K?
Right. So, it isn't that one is
boldly lying.
Wow. That may have been a regionally accepted thing. Like 'sorta speak' seems to be favored in some places in the East over 'so to speak.'
Huh. This is me. Standing corrected.
eta: K! Semantically challenged sistah!!
re: quiz
Oh, and the fact that it didn't say "whaling on," just said "whaling." I'm killing and skinning the other boxer for his subcutaneous fat? Violent, granted. But also seems way weird.
That was EXACTLY what I thought. Ha!
Now I am emboldened.
To correctness, I say FEH.
To correctness, I say FEH.
We reject their reality and substitute our own!
Epic, dear,
"sorta"
is how some Easterners pronounce
"so to"
. Those would be the sort of Easterners who say things like, "Aunt Linder pahked her cah. In Hahvahd Yahd."
I got 110/111, missed the
sow/sew
one... not because I do not know the difference, but because I was having a backwards moment.
ETA: whitefont. Sorry.
