Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Whee! I cannot wait to see you again, ms. bug! When are you getting in, again?

(and I honestly cannot remember what books I lent you--it will be like getting brand new books!)

Are you sure it was a roach, vw?

Yeah, I'm really pretty sure. I looked up a picture right after killing it.

Was it still dark in your kitchen?

Yeah. I was making coffee. I hadn't even turned the light on yet.

Oh! Anne! We get in Friday late afternoon. We'll probably be at the hotel around 7 or 8.

You loaned me a bunch of crafty books, some of which I have purchased so I can have them myself, because I loved them so.

Poptarts:

I just called dad again to vent. I was feeling guilty that I don't have the energy to try to deal with this before calling in the professionals. He's like, "Oh, no. This is totally something that you call in the professionals for. Don't you go digging around in the cupboards and behind the fridge."

Oh, also, they carry special allergens which are particularly bad for asthmatics. So, they really do need to be taken care of ASAP, and by someone who is not me.

What is even happening?

vw, tell your landlord you'll be away for the weekend, and that the cat will be in the apartment. Odds are, the exterminator wouldn't come out over the weekend, anyhow.

Shoot. I want this taken care of before we get back.

I did just check the tenant/landlord's rights and responsibilities, and cockroaches is one of the things they have to take care of if there are two or more units in the building.

Thing is, they're probably gonna have to deal with the whole building...especially since the first floor is a restaurant.

Ok. Called landlord. She's going to talk to her husband about "the issue" and get back to me.

Also, broke down and told her we're moving. Let the fun begin.

vw, one roach does not an infestation make. It may just have wandered in to get out of the rain.

Since I've recently come into possession of a termite infestation (which has not yet been dealt with by my landlord), I can feel your pain. Well, maybe not, because cockroaches wig me right the hell out. Still, I hope they move quickly.

I think you're handling the problem very well, and Ginger is probably right about the rain being the problem. As for your landlord showing the place, it is not your problem if the place doesn't look perfect when you show it and make sure they stick to having to give you 48 hours notice, so that you can find a way to deal with Toto.
