Kristin, that's weird, but kind of nifty.
I just discovered I am out of eyeliner and mascara. What's good that can be bought at Target?
Max Factor mascaras are generally pretty good. I like their 2000 Calorie Mascara, and have been using it off and on for over a decade. Eyeliner, I'd probably go Revlon, but it's been so long since I used a pencil that I'm pulling that one out of my rear. Allyson likes the purple liquid Wet n' Wild, and I had decent luck with it, so there's that option.
Thanks Plei! And Ailleann, too!

So apparently our ancestors were human chimp hybrids. The real humans died out. Y'know, that explains a lot.
t Just to be clear: I'm not accidentally distorting the meaning of that story. I'm doing it on purpose.
Um...anyone around?
t Jilli Whitefont
I killed a cockroach in the kitchen this morning.
WHAT DO I DO????
edited to whitefont for the Jilli-types
First thing you do, vw, is relax.
When I was temping at an apartment complex, the maintenance man there told me that everyone gets
cockroaches
, from the saddest little shack on up to the White House. The difference between an infestation and a clean, healthy environment is in how well controlled the nasty things are. Another apartment in your building may be poorly controlled, and things are spreading from there. Or it could have hitched a ride in on someone's bag, from a place - like a friend's home, or a grocery store - where there were a lot of them.
Not sure if you want to call the landlord about this - probably you do. But they may not be the least bit helpful. All foods must be stored in the fridge or in in air-tight containers. Sweep up after every meal, rinse dishes well if they are not going to be washed right away. I've had good luck with
roach motels
, but if you think Toto or Bastet would mess with them it might be better to find another method. It's been a good ten years since I did this, so there may be updated information - I called Poison Control to ask them for guidance with
roach
control methods that would not poison my cat. The woman I talked to thought it was nifty I'd called for prevention information. One thing I remember is that while boric acid may be toxic if eaten, it actually takes a fairly hefty dose - don't remember exactly how much, but more than I could imagine a cat eating - before it would cause problems.
Posting this now, then I'll start Googling for more details.
Maybe call the landlord and tell him he needs to fumigate?
Maybe call the landlord and tell him he needs to fumigate?
That's what I was leaning towards, and we're all going to be gone this weekend, so it would be a good time.
Except for poor Bastet. I don't know what we'd do with her. I think she couldn't be here during the fumigating. Ugh. Why did this have to happen the day before I'm leaving on vacation?
Also, I'm worried that the landlord is gonna say, "This is your own problem. You keep that place such a mess, it's no surprise." But, that just might be my issue.

In a gloss? Sheer or not?
Not necessarily sheer, but...lip gloss, so not as not-sheer as lipstick, y'know? I want to be able to put it on with no mirror, and not be TOO paranoid about drawing outside the lines, if that makes sense. Looking online at Sephora, Clinique looks like they might have some nice colors, but so hard to tell, really...
Oh, god. This is making sick.
I so do not have the strength to deal with this right now. But, no one else is gonna, so I have to.
