Happy Mothers Day!

(I, being a daughter with a horrible work schedule, had to very bashfully ask my mom if we could delay celebrations until June. Mom said that was fine, but I still feel like the World's Worst Daughter about it. I'm going to call her later today.)

Ugh. Don't want to copy edit any more topics today. Pity that's not an option.

Oh ebay experts - when the clock starts ticking down on an auction - when does the sniping start? I'm selling something and am wondering if there will be a last minute flurry.

Our wings are not tired.

The kids have both told me Happy Mother's Day without prompting, and they have been responsive to my chore requests. Who could ask for anything more?

DH is in Nebraska. He has a couple cousins there and one's son and the other's daughter are graduating HS this weekend. He's enjoying himself. He said we'd do something when he got back. Probably will delay until June since he gets back Tuesday morning and I leave Wednesday morning.

EXcellent! I'd really enjoy that. What materials do you mostly work in?

Sorry, Fay, I had headed to bed. To answer your question; I've worked in acrylics for the last dozen years but currently I'm using digital.

Oh, and Fay, don't forget to bring your Pooh books.

for all you guilty feeling people - I sent my mom the Mr. t. video'Treat your mother right' that someone linked to in natter. So dead form last night's house concert ( which went really well) that I'm not sure I could talk coherently to her.

Brendon is cutie. and really, I loved the stand around before the dance. I remember feeling like that. ( things are much more fun now) One of my friends makes garters for proms. ( the people that make the lamp work beads). she says working with the teens i sa real pleasure. That take it very seriously - - and they are good customers.

Happy Mother's Day!

Brendon looks so handome! And his date is adorable. Well, all those kids - adorable. Though, I guess they'd probably prefer a more mature word? How about handsome/lovely.

I just got back from taking my mother out to lunch. Very yummy place. Had a nice time.

Now I need to go clean stuff. Bleh.

Hey beth - any chance for a garter hook-up for this Friday? K-Bug needs a red and black one.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ is in the shower and then headed out to brunch with her Mom before church. Little league game yesterday. Game today. Tournament team practice on Monday.

Emmett had his best game of the season yesterday. He's been in a hitting slump, and it took several starts and a lot of practice to get this pitching to come around. He's been fine in the field, though, and our best catcher.

Our game yesterday was epic and bizarre as only Little League can be. We hit the ball, put men on base and then ran into outs. Bases loaded no outs and we ran into a truly idiotic double play. We had five baserunners thrown out altogether - all stupid plays on our part. Blood pressure rising among the coaching staff. Jallah pitched well for 2+ and then was fairly terrible catching, letting three people score from third on passed balls. Oy. So we were down 10-2 and then we came back and tied it up. Emmett pitched three innings. Shaky at first, but finding the strike zone. When we tied the game he shut them down.

Partway through the inning he's on the mound and looks over to me in the dugout and motions towards his mouth. I know his molar has been loose and call time. Run out there and collect the tooth. He's got a little blood dribbling out of his mouth and frankly, it looks tough. He went back to pitching and they didn't score.

To put that in context, I really like the players on our team but we have a lot of kids who get a sudden headache after they get picked off base, or make poor puppy faces when they scrape their elbow. So it was nice to see him being a gamer and leading the team when they needed somebody to step up.

Also, I've been throwing hours of extra batting practice with him, trying to sort out his swing. He actually listened to me, and shortened his swing and made contact, bringing in a runner from third with less than two outs, and stroking a clean single up the middle for the RBI that tied the game.

And he had been dropped from the lead off spot because he'd been slumping and he was cool about it. He's really just happy to play. He was thrilled to go out and pitch for the third time when we went into extra innings. They took the lead then, but it wasn't because of his pitching. The defense fell apart, threw the ball around the field like Single A and they scored three runs they shouldn't have. Even then we came close to tying it in the bottom, but Jallah's shot into center was caught by Tierza (the only girl I've seen in Triple A) and that ended the game.

It was a disapointing loss, but everybody felt pretty good about coming back and tying it when we were down so far.
