Perkins, getting rid of the bow should be the easiest thing - that's something that's usually added after the dress has been constructed (going waaay back when I actually sewed).

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Perkins, I am willing to bet a pair of pointy-toed shoes that the bow is attached by about 5 stitches, and can be removed by anyone with a pair of small embroidery scissors.
Good lord. Really, the image that sprang to mind just then...for the love of Pete, don't tell Jeeves. I blush and boggle at the memory.
Bwah!

I could do that!
I'd probably also want to have the waist taken in though, which I wouldn't dream of doing myself.
It definitely looks like an easy enough matter to get rid of the bow. Other alterations, not sure.
So maybe I should see if I can get it for close to the $10 reserve and just hope that it is alterable, and doesn't look like pepto-bismal?

Eh, it looks like a matter of taking in two seams in the back. If you don't sew, take it to a tailor, but it wouldn't be a difficult alteration.
Perkins--I got my Daddy O's dress yesterday, and it just didn't work. It had a nice high waist (so little hits me there), but then high hips too, and since I don't have my hips there it resulted in strange bulges of fabric.
I have to admit I wasn't impressed with the construction too much, or the fabric. Not a $73 dollar dress, even if it fit.
If only the chick at dangerdame would talk to me! My e-mail's gone ignored, and no one picks up their phone.
I would be willing to consider any options that get me out of New England for the 3rd of July, where the flight is around $200 a person.
hmm- flights are hella 'spensive now with fuel costs, etc. + on holiday weekend...
I suggest a drive to Vermont and a stay in a cute inn! Summer in VT is beautiful and off season, so quieter and cheaper than in the fall and winter.

ita, she emailed me last week to make sure I had gotten my dress, and to let me know that she's been flaky about responding to things because she's been flying to Florida to help take care of a friend who has cancer.
I have to return/exchange my DaddyO's dress, because while the tag says XL, the actual measurements of the dress are the ones listed for a size Medium.
I would be willing to go before or after the holiday weekend if it would get me near other buffistas, but you're right about the gas prices. I didn't think of that.
