Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Hey, quick question: anyone here watched Sideways? I've watched about the first half hour, and I find myself wanting to slap the two main characters.

I found it maddening in the I-want-to-punch-these-guys sense, though there are a few nice moments scattered throughout. I don't know that those few moments are worth sticking with the movie, though, especially if you rented it or it's on TV. I saw it in the theatre, so I stayed for the whole thing, just on principle.

But I have no desire/need/plan to watch it again. And I'm a serious wine junkie, so that's saying a lot.

What is even happening?

AND laying by the pool reading a novel (The Historian)
Is that a vampire one? I think I bought it for my aunt, for Christmas. I stopped by her house today, after my friend's brother's wake. I've been meaning to ask her if I could borrow it. (I hope I'm not thinking of a completely different book).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

::wonders when the last time Cindy got to read a book by poolside::

I really liked Sideways. I didn't think either character was irredeemable, though they both had serious flaws. It's tough to do a movie about mid-life stall without looking at very flawed characters anyway. The strength of the women characters also showed that the story/filmmaker didn't condone their behavior at all, but were critiquing it.

Sideways annoyed me, as well. I just wanted the guys to shut up.

Laundry has been done here too

Dang, that would've been a good productive thing to do. Ah well. Instead I've read yet another Suzanne Brockmann novel, which has made me feel pathetic and lonely and unloved, in a very "I want a hot sexy sweet man of my own!" impossible (and utterly ridiculous) way. Stupid romance novels.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Yeah, I don't think redemption is the point here, save that their path to redemption should include being slapped.

It shall be returned unviewed. Ah well.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Ahem.

I want tit noted that I have made the greastest sacrifice a mother can make.

I am sharing my crayons with my child.

That is all.

Yes.

I loved Sideways. Dave thought it was ok, but he couldn't get past the fact that the characters were so unredemable.

You heard the woman; everyone gets to apply post it notes to Aimée's boobs.

F2F is shaping up.

Pete, did you see the purse I linked to for Jilli? She must have it.
