Xander: Am I right, Giles? Giles: I'm almost certain you're not. Though, to be fair, I haven't been listening.

'Sleeper'

Spike's Bitches 30: Going on Thirteen

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Yes.

Wore purple 2-inch heel sandals to school yesterday, on the basis that I did want something sandally & don't have anything else sandally. Well, okay, mostly on the basis that they were purple and went with the ensemble.

Never again.

And they're comfortable high heels, inasmuchas such things exist. And I invariably take my shoes off when I'm in my own classroom (as it's carpeted). But - not doing that again. No siree bob.

Re: height discussion? I'm 5ft 3, I think. Or maybe 5ft 2. Which, yes, can't reach the top shelf & have to be on tiptoes to get the middle shelf. C'est la vie.

ion, I have just sold my nice bookcase. Which had mashrabaya doors.

sighs.

And today I'm going to box up most of my books and go and sell them too, because I've reached a bit of my life when I'm okay with letting books back out into the world for other people to play with. I know they'll still be out there for me when I need them again.

I think I've grown as a person. Or possibly just become more realistic about the logistics of living out of a suitcase, as that seems to be what I'm doing with my life.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Not me, as long as the heel is chunkyish and the ball of the foot padded decently. But I am a freak.

Mostly lurking...

We have evil, evil pets this morning. Toto's been barking, which agitates Bastet, who has attacked Toto three times and me once, while I was trying to separate them. Lovely. Not quite sure what to do with them.

But, in good news, my parents are giving us one of their DVD players! YAY! So, we will no longer be tvless.

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

I don't know if I should be mad at the DVR or the Bravo network, but after spending all day today avoiding be spoiled for Top Chef I got spoiled for the result as soon as I hit play tonight.

sj, I think it's Bravo's fault. I always had the same problem with Project Runway. I wasn't super invested in not being spoiled, so I was ok but it happened every time I recorded, I believe.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I have my prom dress (and an alternate) but I need to find shoes. Also maybe something to wear on Friday night.

Wish me luck, y'all. Psycho Big Boss is back in the office today. We managed somehow to weather the unpleasantness from earlier this week, but these days? Anything could happen.

Our wings are not tired.

Eeek. I haven't done anything about F2F clothing. My F2F shirts don't fit. I have to dig out cold weather stuff from the bins. dont have a clue what I'll be bringing.

Offer Psycho Big Boss a breakfast margarita to celebrate Cinco De Mayo! Maybe this would work for Toto and Bastet too!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Why don't we all have margaritas, and get them for eveyone around us (pets included). Sure to make things go better!

Our wings are not tired.

Margaritas made with orange juice should work, right?

Both boys have been deposited at their schools. Now to get myself to work...

Maybe coffee before the booze.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Feh. Couldn't sleep last night and I can already hear the birds chirping.

Yesterday I went to the Orbit Room, which is a cafe/bar on Upper Market (which is the area on Market between the Castro and downtown). The bartender there, Alberta, is fairly famous in the city (Best of the Bay 2004), and makes cocktails to order based on what you tell her. That is, you can say, "I want to feel like I'm a mod in London in 1966 and we just had a scooter rally and we're about to go see Georgie Fame play tonight" and she'll make something with gin and Campari and some cucumber concotion of her own.

She makes her own sugars and salts and infusions and purees so all the mixers are fresh and intensely flavored. And she knows her booze history and mixology down completely, including why the original Mai Tai recipe is so different from what is currently called a Mai Tai, and what's wrong with Bombay Sapphire and what's right with Plymouth and Boodles and the importance of Marschino Liqueur and how hard it is to find and why people shouldn't be afraid of Vermouth.

She's big on botanicals and will crush and scumble fresh pear right into your drink. Though she's got strong opinions, she's really focused on making her customers happy so she doesn't lecture. But she will educate if asked.

I think I need to bring a picture of Jilli in for her and have her concoct something special. "So think: Edwardian, goth, perky, blithe, witty, stylish and chocolate."

Though first I'll probably say, "Okay I want to be on a beach in Rio in 1962 listening to Joao Gilberto play acoustic bossa nova on a hot, breezy night. Make a drink like that."

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I am F2F prom-dress-less. But I really like these shoes.
