Ah thank dog, I managed to troubleshoot the problems I had installing my speech recognition software. Unfortunately, it's going to take extensive training before the recognition rate is good enough to actually be of use to me. For instance, it has taken me more than five minutes to dictatethis because I have had to correct things so much.

My boss uses speech software a lot of the time. Occasionally, this leads to hilarious mistranslations.

I've owned speech recognition software of one sort or another for 10 years. I mostly don't use it because of the frustration. Plus dictation is a lot different than writing out of your head. It kinda messes with my writing style. Also you really need to learn to speak a certain way or you thrash your voice. However, since my workplace (or future workplace) is unlikely to allow me to use speech recognition software that makes it all the more important that I use it to give my hands a rest at home. I cannot keep having massively painful RSI flareups like this. Not only does it hurt like hell and cost me money (any money I have on-hand goes to triage), but it really endangers my ability to make a living. (And I typed all this myself so I could make this post somewhere before post #2645.)
Yes, speech recognition software can make some pretty hilarious mistakes.
