In other news, do you guys think it's a good idea or weird to put a former subordinate down as a reference? And you're supposed to have three, right? I have reference issues.

Happy late birthday Corwood!
I've had two people list me as a reference who I didn't actually work with (they're in my fraternity), I got called for one and she got the job. So I guess my answer is... I dunno. Though I do know that they usually ask for three.
Timelies all!
Soon I will be going out to dance for/with the faeries.(Maryland Faerie Festival, if anyone wonders)
Jesse, absolutely get that reference. The subordinate that will write a letter for you praising your awesome managing skillz is gold. Means your underlings like and respect you.
ETA: I've given references to fellow secretaries with examples of when they've helped me with work, because it gives the person considering them a nice picture of how they get along with peers and work as part of a team.

So sad!

That's what I was thinking. My third was either going to be her or a guy I've done freelance editing for, so maybe I'll just give both.

More for me!
Sorry about the lacklustre birthday, Corwood. Here's to hoping the next 364 days make up for it.
Jesse, my recruiter had me get a reference from a former subordinate. I think it's perfectly acceptable and quite illuminating.
Right on.
Damn, it's dead around here.
