The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I'm down to 3 hours and 8 minutes.

Gross.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

There are a lot of songwriters out there just eking a living off of rights

The sad part is how little of the fee actually ends up going to the rightsholder. I was working with fiction writers, pursuing permission to reprint one short story per person, and all of them were appalled that their companies were charging like $2000 for a story, and then the authors themselves were getting like $200 of that.

(All of them had signed the appropriate contracts; there was no illegal hijinkery; they just hadn't actually thought through the part where they're not the ones who get to set the permission fee.)

(Sometimes, having an appalled author on your side is really useful in browbeating the company to lower its fee. And then, as is the case with Edith Wharton's "Roman Fever," the reprint fee is $4700, whether you like it or not.)

(Nobody reprints that story any more, since the fee went up.)

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

David: what Spidra said. There were a few songs they had to switch out, but I'm not quite up for the marathon viewing experience to document them. Now that I think about it, though, I seem to recall there being a website that did so. Because the Internet was created by people who have a lot more free time than I do, and that's scary.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

So what are people doing this weekend?

I suspect my weekend will involve a lot of vegging and cleaning, since I'll be avoiding the traffic from the graduation ceremonies at the college down the hill from me.

sara: take out.

msbelle can tell you how foreign this idea is to me. I'm blind to it the way I am blind to coffee shops.

But I have an A&W cheesburger, so I'm good. Did you know they now make "veggie bites" which I gather and broccoli and cheese in a fried nugget. I didn't try them.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Folks from the Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild are meeting at the Lacis Museum tomorrow and then going for tea & cakes at Crixa. I heavily regret that I just started a low sugar diet a little more than a week ago... Sunday I fly (using frequent flier miles, thanks Dad!) to Austin to meet some board folks there. I'll be in Austin 'til the 11th.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This weekend I will be seeing people I haven't seen recently, and possibly also training with the Japanese kravvers...but probably not, now that I think about it--they're doing green belt stuff. I missed my window on the blue. On the other hand (literally), I do need to relearn everything as a leftie, and as attacked by a leftie.

I feel I live such an enviable life.

Boss² seemed very much less anxious about the plan. So I took a walk and a nap, but it still smells to high perfume in here.

I'm getting my haircut, finally. Laundry to be done and maybe a nature center to find.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I work at Blanca tonight. I'm debating whether or not to go drool over my current (ongoing, not!going!away!) crush afterward. Oh, and I'm sure I'll get a drink in.

Tomorrow, first day of auditions for Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, then dinner with cool peeps. Hopefully I'll fit a run in. I'll definitely go down & flirt with Crush!Guy tomorrow night.

Sunday, more auditions, and then probably hanging out at Pier 23. Maybe the sun will make an appearance & make sitting on the pier most pleasant. It would be nice if I fit a run in there too.
