OK, so I hate to share sadness, but I kinda need to share this with somebody...
Five music students at Indiana University were killed in a small plane crash Friday. They were all brilliant musicians, two of them were in undergrad with me, and Robert was a good friend. It's a terrible loss, and I don't know why I need to tell people who aren't really involved, but I think they deserve to be recognized for what they accomplished, and how much more they could have done.
Thanks for helping me cope.
Oh, that state legislature news definitely raises my Monday spirits.
ION, I haven't gotten out of bed yet. Went to be somewhere around 3am. Got a phone call at 9:30. Should have gone right back to bed but I messed around on the Interwub. Then finally went to sleep a bit more and am now up. Bath is drawn. Dreading the crowds at Emeryville Trader Joe's. With gas prices, I can't justify driving to further-away TJ's that are less crazy. Honestly, I ought to break my bike out but since I've pissed away so much of the day I don't want to take another hour or so biking there and back (actually, it seems like most of the time is taken trying to lock my monoframe recumbent with a huge motorcycle lock....yeah Bay Area for being a bike theft leader).
Ailleann, they seem like they were lovely. What a terrible loss.
That's awful. My condolences, Ailleann.
Oh Ailleann, that's terrible.
Numfar, do the dance of impeachment!
I've just been told I have the option of staying at a hotel tonight. I'm scheduled to work until 2am and start again at 9am. I could avoid the hour drive each way, but I don't have anything packed and I kinda need to leave now. Eh, I'll make the drive. That way the cats can trample me in my sleep.
I'm so sorry, Ailleann, how horrible.
(Moving on to shallower things.)
Concept car with built-in espresso machine.
Oh Ailleann, that's terrible. I'm so sorry.
That is horrible, Aileann. I'm so sorry for your/everyone's loss.
Thanks everybody. One of my fondest memories of Robert was a piece he wrote for six instruments, tenor, and chocolate bunny. Another of our friends, who's a flutist like me, bit off the top of the ears and played it like a pop bottle. Then, during a musical break, the tenor wolfed it down most theatrically. Never laughed so hard at a chamber concert in my life.
