Driving downtown in Memphis is like being in the middle of a George Romero movie.
Or like driving in SF. Coming home from Petaluma this afternoon, I thought I had more time before the 101 splits into Route 1 and the so called "101" which takes you through downtown SF before becoming an actual freeway again, so I wasn't in the correct lane to get on the 1.
Normally, on a Sunday that would just mean 20 minutes of extra driving, but being me, I had to pick a Sunday when there was an immigration march in downtown SF.
Most of the bay area is densley populated. there are pockets of country in the middle. these are pictures of the old train journey we took last weekend.

Freaky! Some time ago my vcr turned on by itself and started rewinding an old tape that was in there while I was watching The Ring on dvd.
I ejected the tape and threw it away. You know, just in case.

There was freaking out, that's for sure. I don't think we watched the rest of the dvd until the following morning. When it was nice and bright outside.
We were watching

on a bus driven by this crazy French driver, going like 90, when the driver missed the exit and slammed on the brakes.
