and only two hats
I wore a hat to church! I felt all...something.
Easter Sunday used to be the day women wore their best and most festive hats to Mass. It still is in some communities, but not in the progressive upper-middle-class mostly-white churches I attend. So I only saw 2 today.
Easter...instead of Church, I'm going to Vegas. This is fitting.
go, bug with the hat-wearing!
I remember having an Easter outfit when I was about six; it included a red "straw" (actually plastic) hat and matching purse, a red plaid dress with a lace collar, and white gloves.
You just don't see that any more. Heck, there were at least 3 boys in hoodies today.
Oh, church hats! Of course! I even had Easter bonnets, back when I was younger, and thus shorter and smaller, than I am today, I just didn't make the connection. For some reason I kept coming up with paper sailor hats.
I was feeling very judgy about the multiple people I saw in jeans at or on their way to church this morning. Grownups! In jeans! In church! On Easter! Bah.
But I also saw some fabulous hats.
Happy Birthday, Drew!
Great pics, Tom. (If you're wondering who that new Flikr contact is, it's me.)
It's dark and rainy here with some rolling thunder. It makes me want to sleep or lounge and watch movies. Instead, I have to empty out my kitchen and do paperwork.
I admit I wore jeans to Mass -- but they were my fancy black velvet jeans, as it was pouring rain when I left the house.
Now I must go clean, argh!
Black velvet is a whole nother story. I don't even know I'd count that as jeans! I'm talking blue denim with sweatshirts and sneakers. I'm sure that Actual Clergy People would rather have people in the pews than worried about what to wear, but still! I feel the same way at the theater.
