Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm a little startled by how much Easter is going to impact me this year. Krav centre's closed, and my gym is closed. It's weird, but I don't remember this from last year. Probably because in my unChristianity this pinged me in only one way--Jamaican easter bun. We had bun all year round, but at Easter it was more pointed.

It's not like what I think non-Jamaicans think of when they think of bun--it's a loaf, cakelike, made with crystallised fruit and stout, and somehow manages to have a top that's moist, just short of sticky. It's sweet, but not that sweet, and works better with a plain, sharp cheddar. Or New Zealand cheese from a tin.

It's a thing.

And it's my only thing.

I read this article about sugar Easter eggs, and realised there's a whole world of Easter I know absolutely nothing of. I know the religious side--I just don't observe it. It's the traditions I swear I never noticed.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Goth subculture may help self-harming kids

A study of goth kids finds that goths are more likely to "self-harm" but that they became goths after this behavior manifested, and suggests that goth subculture might in fact help messed-up kids stop hurting themselves:

"One common suggestion is they may be copying subcultural icons or peers [when they self-harm], but our study found that more young people reported self-harm before, rather than after, becoming a goth. This suggests that young people with a tendency to self-harm are attracted to the goth subculture," says Robert Young, who led the study.

"Rather than posing a risk, it's also possible that by belonging to the goth subculture, young people are gaining valuable social and emotional support from their peers." But he cautions: "However, the study was based on small numbers and replication is needed to confirm our results." Only 25 participants felt strongly associated with goth culture.

And it's my only thing.

It's your thing. Do you what you wanna do.

Feeble threat. You know that earworm already owns your ass.

I can't tell you / who to sock it to

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Is there someplace you can buy the bun?

idle curiousity: how does taste and texture compare to fruitcake?

It's much less moist than fruitcake. I can't imagine where one would get it other than a Jamaican food store.

Hec, really, the rhythm has gotten me. There's not much room left.

I knew I should've gotten you that Lionel Ritchie Fancllub t-shirt. It's the rhythm of the night that you can't resist.
