Yum Vermonty Python. The Neapolitan Dynamite is good too but at our house the Cherry Garcia side is gone first most of the time (darn kids!) mixed together in the bowl it's very yum! I almost picked up a pint of the Black & Tan last night but didn't I may have to head back to the store tonight.

Barq's is the best big-selling root beer, but there are some really excellent varieties put out by smaller producers. I just had one by the Jones soda company (the company that puts out all those wacky flavors) that was fabulous.

There's so much variety in root beers, though! It's practically half the stock at Yum, and we've sampled dozens. JZ favors Virgil's which has a bit of anise in it. I like Sprechter's best - deep flavor and very creamy. Hank's is good, Sparky's, Abita, ones flavored with molasses or honey.

IBC is quite nice, as root beers go. Although they are the ones who finally convinced me that there is such a thing as too sweet, and its name is cream soda.
