NYC Freakish Deathsnow Update:
Outside my window, it has now cleared up.
Outside the window near the kitchen on the other side of the office? Still snowing.

Heh, I was thinking of BUCKAROO BANZAI when I made the joke, but, hey, it always doubles as a little good LOT 49 humor.
Aw, crud, it is only me who likes Pynchon jokes.
I keep trying to come up with a set of key strokes that emulates the trumpet, but the best I've been able to do is (and it looks like html doesn't like one of the characters):
But where's the mute?
I never thought of Wisconsin as being progressive although that's in its history. But so is McCarthy. Go, Feingold, though.
Why grenades make poor paperweights:
Part of a teacher's hand was blown off when a 40 mm round the instructor used as a paperweight on his desk exploded in his classroom.
Robert Colla struck the round with an object Monday afternoon while teaching 20 to 25 students at the Ventura Adult Education Center on Valentine Road.
Part of Colla's right hand was severed and he suffered severe burns and minor shrapnel wounds to his forearms and torso, fire Capt. Tom Weinell said. No one else was injured.

I didn't know WI had a reputation for being liberal until I was a sophomore in college. And I grew up there. (Though Rock County is hardly a liberal bastion.)
I think that has got to be a Darwin Awards honorable mention. I've heard of dumber, but they involve things like playing badminton with the same kinds of materials.
It's now super super bright & clean outside.
I saw a sign on someone's lawn that read: THANK YOU RUSS FEINGOLD.
I thought that was pretty neat.
I did a google on 40mm rounds, and came up with this, among other links:
If fired into snow or mud, 40mm rounds may not hit hard enough to detonate. An undetonated round may explode when stepped on or driven over.
You gotta google, people.
I blame the people who fired the 40mm round into snow or mud....
