Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

He gets some real zingers in with Brown, I must say. I was happy that Colbert was tougher than I expected.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

California condors seen nesting in Big Sur.

Oh, that's excellent news.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Thinking on this, I've come to realize that I am an extremely cynical hobbesian

But, Hobbes isn't cynical; he's a cute fluffy tiger who likes tuna fish sandwiches and tummy rubs!

All philosophy I learned in my PHIL 101 and 102 classes at Marquette has left me completely. The other philosophy classes, OTOH, are more memorable: bitching about current ethical issues in Philosophy and Ethics, and watching The Gold Rush and Monty Python and the Holy Grail in Philosophy and Humor, as well as writing a fun paper comparing Chinese and Japanese comic strips. Not much philosophy, but an easy A, nonetheless.

Oh, and I must Woo-hoo for finally getting my taxes done! (I'm getting a fair amount back from the feds, and owe Springfield one measly dollar.)

hip deep in pie

Nasty, brutish, and short always reminds me of the Woody Allen line about "The food here is terrible. And the portions are too small."

My favourite Allen/philosophy joke is in Hannah and Her Sisters (I think), when someone's talking about Nietzsche's eternal return of the same, and Allen says "Great, that means I'll have to sit through the Ice Capades again."

Oh good, I'm not the only person who went there.

Yeah, the last brush I seriously had with studying philosophy was in college and the one thing I remember most clearly is that I rather violently though Locke was full of bullshit and Hobbes roasted him on a nice bonfire. Mind you, I don't remember enough to know why I came to that conclusion. For all I know, it could have been contrariness towards the sweet-as-pecan-pie-to-the-point-of-diabetes, optimistic mountain man of a professor.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I was a philosophy minor, but I have a shitty memory for names. I know that there are certain ways of thinking about stuff, but as for who came up with what, or when, I'm completely useless.

(But not quite as useless as I was the quarter I was taking Philosophy of Language. That course fucked me up almost worse than reading A Brief History of Time.)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Went swimming today. Now my skin is itchy. Oh, well, there's always a drawback...

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Bones: Have we ever heard of this boyfriend before? What good is killing someone we don't know?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Bones: Well, if they've never appeared, at least no one loses their job when the character dies.
