I love those colors, Burrell!

Oh, but I'm fairly sure that the ottoman is also available with chrome feet rather than the wood ones in the picture -- the whole thing's kind of predicated on that, actually. Would that make it fit better? I find that chrome = instant retro.
Definitely. It was the carved wooden legginess of the ottoman that was making me think too traditional for the room, but chrome would go great.
Take a look at what I turned up yesterday while looking around—talk about becoming the focal point of a room! [link]
Not only is it gigantic with an overwhelming pattern, but you get the extra cachet of having probable wildlife poachers in Tanzania kill something to make it!
Nilly, Teppy and SA are also finding some romance (uh, not without each other, though that's not outside the realm).
Burrell, the colors read lovely. I love the lavender for the bedroom.
find that walking into the house after the painting you'd think, "yeah, this is home."
My baby sister recently moved out of our parents' place. I was twice at her new apartment, once before she painted it, and the second time, last week (the bus from my former post was on the way to her place) was after she painted it, in - oh, what are the names of the colors in English - some sort of very light yellow, with certain places in blue. It just felt like "yes, this is her home now, this is where she lives, no matter where most of her stuff still is" when I got in there last week.
I didn't think Judaism was supposed to be this hazardous to my health.
Well, they do say that you get "paid in heaven" (I have no idea how to translate it from Hebrew) if you have to invest for your beliefs. But still, Judaism prefers people to be healthy and well and unblistered.
Hec! Thanks for the update. I hadn't posted with you in forever! How are you doing?
Hey! NILLY! I can't beliebe we're on at tha same time!
I have a boyfriend too! He's half-Jewish....but he's a Buddhist comedian now. And I swear, if I ever find a cute Orthodox pirate for you, I will hunt him down, tie him up, and air-mail him to Israel with a giant pink bow on his eyepatch and a giant "FOR NILLY! Love, Erin" tag on his toe.
Er, not a morgue-I'm-dead toe tag. Like a gift bag toe tag.
Erin! Yay you for the boyfriend having! How is the teaching going?

Surprisingly, that would be easier to explain to my mom. I mean, with the "yeah, my wonderful American friends, they know I'm Jewish and all, so they thought about me and my needs, like when they sent kosher chocolate and kosher cookies".
Teaching is stressful right not, but just because we're doing formal testing AND I can't ait for Spring Break! Oh, Spring BReak! Dear, wonderful break -- my girlfriends and I are all renting two cute cottages and ahouseboat on a nearby lake and spending the weekend cooking and drinking wine and going to get facials and massages -- I can't wait!
Otherwise. teaching is going great. I love it, love my students, and feel like I am just getting better at it. It's really good.
Kosher chocolate, kosher boyfriend...it's kinds one and the same, right? Except one will maybe talk to you occasionally. What's the Hebrew equivilant of "AAARGGHH, me pretty?"
Nilly,
How are you guys doing?
Pretty good. G is in transition between jobs. Things finally got to be too much at his job, so he found a new one. Right now he's enjoying a couple weeks of "slackerdom" before he starts the new job. Oh, and we're hosting First Seder with my parents and his parents. Whee.
What's the Hebrew equivilant of "AAARGGHH, me pretty?"
My brain is being way too literal and trying to figure this out. "AAAARGGHH, yafah sheli?" Is that anywhere near grammatical?
Oy. I'm trying to translate Pirate into Hebrew. I think this is my cue to step away from the computer and go get lunch and finish grading.
Hee! What in the world is wrong with a Jewish pirate! We have Orthodox rappers -- where's the stretch?
