Spike: You pissed in the Big Man's Chair? That's fantastic! Gunn: Spike, can you please turn off that warm fuzzy? Spike: What, the Lorne thing? Worn off. I just think that's bloody fabulous.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Nilly,

How are you guys doing?

Pretty good. G is in transition between jobs. Things finally got to be too much at his job, so he found a new one. Right now he's enjoying a couple weeks of "slackerdom" before he starts the new job. Oh, and we're hosting First Seder with my parents and his parents. Whee.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

What's the Hebrew equivilant of "AAARGGHH, me pretty?"

My brain is being way too literal and trying to figure this out. "AAAARGGHH, yafah sheli?" Is that anywhere near grammatical?

Oy. I'm trying to translate Pirate into Hebrew. I think this is my cue to step away from the computer and go get lunch and finish grading.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Hee! What in the world is wrong with a Jewish pirate! We have Orthodox rappers -- where's the stretch?

Erin, when is that dreamy Spring Break starting? When is the test?

I love it, love my students, and feel like I am just getting better at it. It's really good.

Oh, this reads wonderful. I particularly like the part about the "getting better", because it promises more wonderful to come.

What's the Hebrew equivilant of "AAARGGHH, me pretty?"

It's "my pretty", right? And is derected to a woman, since it's a kosher pirate, right? So it's "AAARGGHH, yaffa shelli". but with no mispronunciations, and not enough "r"s. [Edit: x-post with Hil]

we're hosting First Seder with my parents and his parents. Whee.

Oh, brave you! Are you going to go all traditional Seder, with the hagada and everything?

Also, good luck to G with the new job!

t blink I was right? Huh. Apparently, my really horrible Hebrew is good enough for Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Apparently, my really horrible Hebrew is good enough for Talk Like a Pirate Day.

It's because you have an "r" in your name. It's like you know the secret handshake because they can pronounce your name pirate-ly.

Or, well, because your Hebrew is better than you think.

You know, I see an entire Jewish Pirate musical spinning out in my head. Can some of the pirates be Russian Jews, cause then they can do that squatting, leg-kicking dance to the Dreidel song, or something. With parrots on their shoulders who say naughty things in Hebrew.

Nilly, break is April 10- 14. Which is CRAZY, because we get out of school for summer on June 2. Go to coppermountaincottages.com if you're curious about where we're going. It's a big, pretty lake called Lake of the Ozarks, which are an ancient mountain chain in the middle of the country, in Missouri and Arkansas.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Apparently there are people who think Jean Lefitte was Jewish? The things you learn googling "Jewish pirate."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How are you doing?

Mixed bag. Working on a new book - very exciting. The first one that I'll be writing entirely by myself.

I'm losing my job next week - stressful. But we'll have enough money to let me focus on writing for a bit before I go job hunting.

Emmett's doing well in school, and he's excited for his Little League baseball games to start - but we keep getting rained out.

JZ - still absolutely fetching.
