It's old school New England cookery.
That's a perfect way of putting it. The shoppe is a lot of fun, especially around Xmas. There's usually some nibbly bit or another that won't need refridgeration to keep that I can use as a gift bag stuffer.
You gotta get out there for breakfast sometime. My only beef with it is that they don't do it past 11am on the weekends.

The frat boys were NCAA track stars in their college days, fwiw. They do actually know how to work hard, but they're definitely slacking careerwise now.

I like water chestnuts. I think the only food texture I have a problem with is rubbery, otherwise, it's all about the taste. My issues with sushi aren't so much the raw, but the fish. I'm not a big fan of seafood to begin with.

The hippies and the mother/daughter team both
knew a little Portuguese -- I think the hippies had a phrase book on the plane. The mother/daughter were getting by mostly (I think) on Spanish.
